If so, how is it? DD is 2 and about 37 pounds, would it be good for her? Does it only go to 40 pounds or 65?

I love our Britax Marathon. My DS is 2 and a bit but only weighs about 25 pounds (the doctor keeps telling us to "give that boy some milkshakes :teeth: ). Anyway, he has been in it since he was about 9 months old and he still looks comfortable in it with plenty of room to grow - also, it seems so secure and sturdy. Be warned - it is heavy, so you're not going to want to move it around a lot. It does go up to 65 pounds I believe. Britax now has some car seats that even go up to 100 pounds I think. I've been thinking of looking at those for my DS4 to see if they look comfortable enough that I may be able to keep him in a 5-point harness for a while longer without too much complaining.

If you have a store around you that carries a lot of them, take your DS in and try him in the different ones.

Good luck!

love ours we have a two and a half year old boy who is 36lbs. I think they go to 65. They did a story on the national news about how most car seats do not last long enough (weight wise). I feel like I am the safest thing for my kids by putting them in the Britax, we also have an 8 month old. They are also approve to go on planes. Good luck!!! :thumbsup2

Britax Marathon:

Rear Facing:
5 lbs. to 33 lbs.

Forward Facing:
1 year old and up / up to 65 lbs.

You can't go wrong with a Britax. We own 4 :thumbsup2

Since you don't need a seat that will rear-face for her, have you considered the Regent? It's a forward facing only seat that harnesses to 80lbs. The top harness slots are about 3" higher than the Marathon's so this seat will last MUCH longer for you than Marathon would.

I just thought I'd mention it...since she's already 37lbs this would give her a lot more time in a harness, which is highly recommended.

Here's a coupon code for Target....they have the Sahara Regent:

Go to this website and the Target link is at the top.

Hth!

We have a Marathon too, and it has been great for us. I will say that All4fun has made a great suggestion about the regent though.

all4fun - do you have a Regent? Is is much larger than the Marathon, and if you do have one, have you had trouble getting it to fit in an airplane seat?

I don't have one, but have been thinking about buying one. We have the Blvd actually and ds's shoulders are about an inch from the top harness position. I've been worried about what I'm going to do when he's finally outgrown it because he's still so little, only 32-33lbs right now.

The Regent is NOT approved for use in an airplane. I've seen pictures of one sitting next to a Marathon though and sitting side by side they are about the same height. The Marathon/DC/BV seats have a taller base (probably becaue they r/f also) and the Regent sits lower, like a bpb would. It's a really big seat from what I hear. I have yet to see one IRL (the nearest BRU is 25miles from me so I don't go there often, especially since ds isn't a baby any more!). That is one advantage to the MA/DC/BV seats though - they are airline approved and will fit in a standard airplane seat.

OK so that was wordier than it needed to be. I hope it answered your question though.

Edit to add: According to the car seat database the MA & clones are 19.5 w x 25.5" t and the Regent is 21.5" w x 28" t. So yeah, it's quite a bit bigger.

Weight mistake, DD2 is actually 30.5 lbs. I thought she was larger. I decided to purchase the Marathon for now since it looks like it'll last a while. I went to epinions and I really liked the reviews I've read, so I went ahead and purchased one from albeebaby.com because they have no tax and free shipping on orders over $100. I hear a lot about how good Britax's are and you really can't put a price on safety...

My son is 4.5 years old and still sits in his VERY comfortably! I have had to replace the carseat cover but other than that...PERFECT! I even skipped the carrier style for my daughter...we brought her home in the britax! HAVE YOU SEEN THIS....this is sooooooooooooooooo important for all parents and grandparents to watch!

It has me thinking about lugging my Britax's through the airport tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have a Marathon that my 6.5 y/o dd sits is every day. She loves it and I am dreading when she outgrows it sometime next year (I am guessing about 6 mos based on how fast she is growing). I will probably go with a Regent although I have considered a Parkway (we have a Britax booster in DH's car although she only rides in it occasionally). I would rather she stayed in a 5 pt though so we'll probably invest in the Regent when the time comes.

The Marathon is a great seat and we will definitely get our money's worth out of ours since Ds will move from his Roundabout to the Marathon once dd moves out of it. Well worth it for seats that are not only very safe but so easy to install and comfortable for the kids as well!

I haven't seen the Regent in person, but we looked at the Husky (which I assume the Regent replaced, and it was HUGE!

I saw the Regent in the store yesterday. That thing is

GINORMOUS

We love our Marathon, brought our little one home from the hospital in it.

LOVE our Marathon.

Started with the Roundabout when DD6 was 15 months old and had 2 of those (1 for each car). When DS3 came along and outgrew his infant seat at 4 MONTHS (he was too long), we switched him into the Roundabout and moved her into the Marathon (again, 2 of them, one for each car).

That was 3 years ago. Now DS3 is in the Marathon and DD6 has moved on to a booster seat, but honestly if we are going for a long trip she will ask us to move the other Marathon into the car for her because it's much more comfortable for long car rides than her booster.

Honestly, this is a "too cool for school" 1st grader, and she ASKS to sit in a chest-harness car seat because it's so comfortable!

Can't go wrong, I highly recommend Britax seats.
