there is a thread right now asking if you would go to Disney without your spouce.

That sparked my interest in this question:

Would you go to Disney without your kids??

(not includeing the "adult" kids who no longer wish to go)

We don't have kids yet, but this has been a topic since we plan to have kids one day.....I don't want to give up my annual Disney trips when the kids are too little, so DH and I will probably leave the kids with the grandparents and go for an "adult" only trip!!!!

I couldnt do it. :confused3
I would be feeling so selfish that I would never enjoy my trip.

We went on our first ever trip with just the 2 of us. It was a very belated honeymoon also since we never had one when we got married 17 years ago.
The kids weren't super happy with us, but they are 15 and 10 so they can handle it we figured. They knew they would be going with next January too.
Tonight my DH shocked me and told me to go ahead and plan another trip, just the 2 of us, for January 08. I was floored. I, of course, started telling him the things I wanted to do and am excited that next January isn't the last trip for a while.

My husband and I went for a long weekend in December. It was great. Everybody was happy-we got to take a vacation alone together and the kids got to get spoiled by grandma.

YEP!!! We are going "adults only" in August for our 20th wedding anniversary. We went as a belated honeymoon the year after we got married and we want to spend our anniversary there by ourselves. Our kids aren't adult yet but they will be 15 and 18 so they will deal with it. It helps that we also have a family trip booked for Christmas with the kids, grandparents and my brother so they know they'll get their turn too! And of course they have been MANY times in the past so they'll have to get over that mom and dad are spending some private time at WDW for a couple days!

I must be as odd as people say I am because I could easily go with no hubby but never with no kids.
Completely opposite of every post I have read.

Yep, I've gone 3x with my sister and once with some friends. As much as I love to have the kids along, we can eat in nicer restaurants, stay up later, go on "scary" rides and roller coasters without switching off. Yes, I love going with the kids, but they are little (one is special needs) and require a lot more work. A trip with adults only has a whole different feel!

March 2005 hubby and I went to Disney for our 10 year anniversary. We loved it  and I keep telling all of my friends and family that you need to do it at least once! I was wonderful being able to enjoy things on our terms and not listening to the kids and doing what they want. :thumbsup2

I could never enjoy WDW without DS! There is just NO way we would go without him...Well maybe if he becomes an obnoxious teenager.... :rotfl: But even then, I dont think I could enjoy Disney without DS. And DH would not hear of going to WDW without DS either.

DH & I did WDW A LOT before DS. So we have had out fill of Disney without kids. Now it is all about the family! And we couldn't be happier about it!

The kids are long grown and gone now..but when they were teenagers we went once without them, for our 20th anniversary. They were ok with it, but not OK with the fact we left them with a SITTER ...they survived and we had a wonderful time.... :sunny:

By the way I have kept my DD and my DS kids when they went to WDW for some couple time. I did remind them they were leaving their kids with a SITTER..... :rotfl2:

As I posted on the spouse thread: I am headed to Disney in 4 days with my very close girlfriend. Our spouses are staying at home and so are our kids. I believe it will be different and I will miss my husband and mostly my daughter, but it will still be a blast.

Our 1st 2 trips to WDW was before we ever had kids, we had a BALL !!! !st was our Honeymoon and then 7 yrs later !! It was magical & perfect !!
It was terrific !!! We laughed at the families who were bogged down by kids ! They looked horrible !!! and miserable !!
I'll never forget this moment, we were just arriving at the airport and a family with 3 kids was just leaving, they looked at us and said " you are sooooo lucky you don't have kids with you !!" We were like " Yeah, what were you people thinking !!"
We were smiling from ear to ear !!! And thought, "oh my gosh, I wouldn't bring kids here until they were 10 or so years old"
Well, low & behold, 8 1/2 years after we were married we had our 1st DD, then 3 years later our 2nd DD, or should I say PRINCESSES !!!
Okay, they are my life, and hooked on WDW !! ( I don't know where they got that from) We are now going on our 2nd trip in Nov and me and DH can't wait to see their little faces light up with amazement !!!
I'm 41 and DH is 49, maybe we are just mellowing out, but after thinking " I WILL NEVER BRING KIDS TO WDW" To. " " I JUST CAN"T WAIT TO TAKE OUR GIRLS TO WDW"...........What more can I say, I have been sprinkled with Pixie Dust, It must Be MAGIC !!!!!

I went without the children to celebrate my 40th birthday. My best friend and I flew to Orlando and spent two days. It was a lot of fun. My younger DD was 2 yo at the time, but I still didn't tell her where I was going cause she loved WDW even at that young age.

Hmmmm, I definately would not go without my DH, however I would go without the kiddos'. I love em dearly, and they make our trips magical. However.... how great would it be to do the "grown" up things at a "grown" up pace!! ahhhhh....

I would have to buy them lots of souvies to make up for the guilt I know that I would feel.... but yup, I'd go without them!! (But we'll keep this between us, if they found out there would be mutiny!! :p )

For our first trip in 1997, it was an all expense paid trip for 2 that my dh won thru a work contest. We paid the extra to bring our DD 13 (she was 3 at the time.) We have never taken a vac. anywhere without our kids .

It's funny because in 10 yrs, we will have our 25th anniver. I am already planning that trip like this: The kids will be 23, 17 and 15 by then...so they will stay at the Pop or All Stars together (oldest DD will "supervise") and me and DH will stay at the Poly (we always stay offsite, but our dream trip for our 25th includes a stay at the Poly) We will meet up with the kids occasionally. But then that way we will have our "adult" trip, while at the same time having the kids with us...
BTW, DH thinks I am nuts.....LOL

Oh Yeeeah!! We are going this July kidless, around our 19 anniversary. :yay: With three children ages 16, 12, 5, and many family trips to the world we are looking forward to an adult trip. We also plan to eat in the nicer restaurants and do things that never interested the kids. We are talking about a disney cruise with the kid'os in the future and I'm sure more wdw family trips also.
