Do you go to the show the first night?

I skip it. Not a fan of shows anyway and since I'm an early to bed, early to rise kind of person I'd probably fall asleep. Prefer to do that in my cabin ;)

Do you go to the first night show? It's sort of intro-ish and both cruises I felt mixed. One moment I'd be siting there thinking, "oh, this is a good preview of the week" and the next I'm thinking "this is a total waste of time."

So do you attend "All Aboard Let the Magic Begin" or skip?

Second seating for dinner = almost no one at the pools/slides after about 5:00 PM. On the Fantasy we skipped all the shows except Aladdin. We saw them all the last time, so no biggie. We'll definitely skip the 1st night's show next cruise as well.

Personally, I agree with walking out during Junnk. 45 minutes of intensive, random drumming on plastic cans, cow bells, what have you, was really not what I call entertainment.
yea we were waiting for something to happen, my 4 year old was like "Mom when are the characters coming out?", we just couldn't appreciate it.... I may have liked it more if I was sans kids and could just enjoy it without worry of them being disruptive or rude during the show

I don't know - we're sans kids and we didn't enjoy it. Neither did any of our dinner tablemates (all adult only groups).

Maybe we're too old?

ok you make me feel better... worried I wasn't "cultured enough" to appreciate it LOL

Wow great tip!!! Now I feel better about having the second seating (I had wanted first but not available).

I have a 6 year old slide/pool junkie traveling with me, so this will be good.

What are the "must see" shows on the Fantasy?

We always go to the show the first night. It gets us more excited for the cruise ahead. But we tend to go to all the shows ....even ones we have seen many times. It is just one of the things we love about DCL.

If you've not seen any of them, I believe you should. My personal taste, I didn't really care that much for any of them, except maybe Aladdin (the Genie wins it everytime).

Yeah, Aladdin would be a must for us. And I do plan on doing the first night show as well. It's kiddo's first cruise, so that show sounds like it would be good.

I'm on the fence - I'd like to be able to get a preview of the non-show acts but man, that first night show was just awful to us. We called it Advertising: The Musical for the rest of the cruise! I don't think I'll get DH to go back.

This exactly. Do I sit through the 45 minutes of annoying to find out if the variety entertainers are worth seeing? Super torn. Maybe we need a spin off: best and worst variety entertainers on DCL. Then I can have a list so when I get onboard my cruise I can see what the consensus was!

We found the first night show on the Fantasy a total waste of time but we did like it Magic one because it previewed John Charles. We liked that.
Certain shows I could skip, but we loved Alladin (on Fantasy)?, Tangled on Magic and I think Dreams on Magic. If the shows stayed the same for next cruise I could skip some and enjoy the pool deck for sure!

I've always attended all the shows and my least favorite is the first show "All Aboard Let the Magic Begin" however unless I have something else planned I will attend.

We've seen John Charles on the Magic, Fantasy and Wonder and he was great every time! (His adult show is not to be missed.) And while I love Aladdin, The Golden Mickeys, Twice Charmed, Villains Tonight, and Disney Dreams, I thought Believe and Wishes were just OK, but not necessary to see again. The first and last shows are definite skips for us nowadays.

It is cheesy, but in a Disney kind of way. The music, songs, and dancing are pretty good; a lot like you would see in a Disney feature film.

My problem with the show is that it's supposed to prove to the teen characters on stage that the DCL evening programs are worth attending. But the father in the show is such a doofus(!) the show just re-enforces the audience's worst fears -- it's cheesy and a real bore.

Its a very long DCL commercial. Same as the last nights show, it completes the very long DCL commercial. Having said that I would suggest everyone see it at least once...........but it is a commercial. ;)

I kind of like the first show as a starting point for the cruise. You get to know the Cruise Director, you see some characters and hear some Disney music. I much preferred the one we saw on the Wonder and Magic to the one on the Fantasy though.

I always skip the last night's show because at that point, I rather sit somewhere and enjoy the last views of the ocean during the quiet time while most people are at the show or dinner.

We skip the first show 99% of the time. We will go if a performer we like will be there (John Charles for example) or if it is an act we haven't seen we might go to check it out. But if we've seen the performers and they aren't among our favorites, we'll skip it because the story line is cheesy and once you've seen it, you don't really need to see it again.

As far as JunNk, we didn't like it either but we thought that was because we were adults and thought it would appeal more to kids. Guess that theory isn't correct either. To us, we felt like we were stuck in an after-party at a frat house and these teen/twenty something guys were just banging around on things for their own entertainment and they didn't really care if they were entertaining you or not. I kept waiting for the "comedy" part of the act -- guess that was when they were grunting at the audience to get them to clap along??

We don't tend to see the variety performers, so usually skip the first show because of that. Like others have said, it's a long commercial for things w'ere not going to go see. We always (well, I always, DH mostly) see the Disney shows - Tangled, Dreams, Golden Mickeys, etc.
