Do you get your child's teacher anything for xmas?

It is getting harder and harder to get gifts and the expense. I love my DS preschool teachers and this is our last year! He is off to kindergarten next year...So I have gift boxed bayberry candles with the reason behind them. I will also give them either a pointsettia or if I finish a decorated slate.
DD is in first grade and her teacher hasn't been teaching long so we are giving him a tie (wears one every day) and a book for the class room. I hope she picks out Polar bear expres....
Now do you give to the Art teacher? Gym teacher? library? music teacher?
We may buy a book to give to the library.

I gave GC's to DS's teachers up to grade 8. Bookstore or restaurant were some that I gave.

I usually get a gift certificate to a restaurant:D

My aunt taught for 30+ years and had more candles, soap, lotion, ornaments and mugs to last a lifetime.:p

When I buy GC's, I always try and choose a place where the teacher can either buy things for the classroom, or things for him/herself if they prefer. This is why I usually pick bookstores, because they can buy books for the classroom, or just books for themselves if they prefer.

Be careful with gift certificates and gift cards that don't show an expiration date... often they expire anyway and the recipient isn't always aware.

We buy 2 movies tickets and a $10 gift certificate for the movie theatre for popcorn and sodas etc. The teachers have always seemed to appreciate them.

Another teacher pipe-up! Several of my kids came right out and asked me where I like to shop so they could get gift certificates and believe me, I told them! :teeth: I did, though, make sure they all understood they shouldn't feel as if they must bring anything. My students have four teachers, so I'd hate to think of their families having any kind of hardship over gifts for them all.
And JulesMom said it really well: my mom also has moved on from many years of teaching, and my goodness, the assortment of that kind of stuff she's pack-ratted over the years! :p

Yes, I do. Just the elementary teacher. Once the hit middle school it's not cool to take in gifts!!;) I try to keep it small, usually around $10. This year I got her a ceramic snowsceen. It's very cute. I got it on sale, so that really helps. I also to the elementary bus driver. She is a getting a snowman mug filled with hot chocolate and the recipe. That turned I VERY cute, if I do say so myself.
Some teacher have asked for supplies for the room. That's always easy. I hate buying for male teachers, they always seem to be harder for some reason. Gift certificates to a local teacher store would be nice. They always need supplies.;)

This year my son has 2 female teachers, 2 male teachers. In the past I've gotten gifts from Pier 1 for his teachers. Since I have to shop for men this year, I think it'll be easy just to get all of them a GC. (We're also getting one for the school director; female)
Since I've waited to the last minute (again) I won't have to run all over the city trying to find gifts.

Definately a gift certificate or an ornament. No consumibles for me as I am diabetic. I hate it when parents give me candy and cookies because I can't have them.
One of my kids gave me my "i love you" necklace. That is really special.

DS made his choice...

I'm surprised since he doesn't seem to like her too much. LOL! He likes the box because it sparkles.

My kids have had multiple teachers for several years and are both in high school now. I make a contribution in their honor to the local animal shelter, and the teachers have told me that's a great honor.

DS has 3 daycare teachers and I am getting them each a big tub of microwave popcorn and a $10 GC to Blockbuster.
