do you get to choose which cabin that you are in?

I have sailed with Princess and RCCL before, but not with Disney. I am trying to book a land/sea package. With Princess and RCCL, we got to pick out our cabin. This was great because we were able to pick out a quiet location (as in not under the dance floor). Can you do this with Disney or do you just pick out the category and then they assign the cabin number?

Any input would be great!

YOu can always ask if a particular cabin is available.

I booked our trip 15 months in advance, and I told my travel agent where I wanted to be on the ship. She emailed me a list of available rooms and I picked from there.

If you have a specific request let Disney or you TA know when you are booking. We have always gotten our room number assigned. Sometimes when you are booking a popular category and date you may have to get a guarantee status without a room number.

As long as it's available, they will give it to you. We always sail in either 5520 or 5020 (secret porthole rooms) or 5650, my favorite verandah room. We tend to book very early to increase the chance of getting our favorites.

Your best bet is to have a list of cabins that you'd like. Also, the earlier you call, the more likely you are to get your choice. If the cabin you request is available, they will assign it to you. If you are booking yourself, you can negotiate directly for a room that you want. Your TA would have to work from your list or call you back with a selection of "available" cabins.

Also, if there is something you'd like to avoid, note that. For instance, I always say that I don't want to be right by the elevators.

Booking GTY status is a totally different animal. If you accept GTY status, it means that you are paying a lower rate (usually a cat 11) with the assurance that you will be in AT LEAST that level. Most of the time, you will ultimately get a "nicer" cabin than what you paid for. However, in exchange, you do not get to choose a cabin at the time you book. One will be assigned to you later.
