Do you get tired of eating out for every meal?

Love, love, love eating at all the different places. And don't think I'll ever get tired of having someone else do all the work & clean up - yes, even making a sandwich is work when I'm on vacation (mother of 4 grown children, and I did child care for nearly 20 years...if I never had to prepare another meal I'd be happy!)

As for the reports that all the food tastes the same, there's not variety, and the quality has gone down hill...not by us! We went in May 2007 & May 2008, and thought the food was wonderful both times. When we choose our restaurants, we deliberately pick different restaurants, and try to choose mostly "new" ones (new to us)...we'll do American one night, Italian the next, then seafood, and so on. We mix it up between menu restaurants & buffets. It only "all tastes the same" if you're always choosing the same types of food everywhere. And as many previous posters said, we rarely get dessert in restaurants at home, and even more rare to have it at home (basically Birthdays & holidays only) so on vacation, we think it's great fun to try desserts. Love the DDP for this!

It may not be the best deal if your family always splits meals...but it saved us money on our last trip (this year.) We kept track of actual $$ spent.

I guess that is what I wonder. I get tired of the way it tastes. Does that make sense? And I've heard lots of people saying the food tastes the same at each place...

In response to your first question, no I never get tired of eating out at WDW. I'm a stay-at-home mom and I love being on vacation and having a restaurant serve me and the best part is not having to clean the kitchen.

As for your second questions, no I have never thought all of the food tastes the same. Oh, I take that back Liberty Tree Tavern and Garden Grill have very similar menus, but other than that no. On our trip in December we are eating at Cyrstal Palace, Whispering Canyon, Hollywood and Vine, LeCellier, Coral Reef, Liberty Tree Tavern Ohanas and 1900 Park Fare. We have liked all of these restaurants. The buffets may have a few similar things, but not all of the same things. Hope this info helps.

No, I love to go out to eat. As a SAHM we don't go out to eat too often and I make most of our meals from scratch every night. I'm a pretty good cook if I do say so myself and I enjoy my cooking, but the last thing I want to do on vacation is prepare any kind of food.

This is me, too. :)

Do we ever get tired of eating out.....NEVER.....Never.....never!!!! We love the TS and 2TS rest. at WDW and the variety is great!!! Part of the fun at WDW is the dining and planning our dining prior to our trip. It's just DH and I, and we plan for a romantice sitdown dinner every night. For our Sept. trip we have upgraded to the DxDDP, and are planning a TS for breakfast or lunch and a 2TS every evening for 8 nights. I can't wait.:cool1:

of someone else doing the cooking, serving, cleaning, thinking up the menu, shopping for ingredients... Tastes WAAAY better than home!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I'm just curious. This is one thing I worry about with the "free" dining. We eat out maybe twice a month. To be honest most food doesn't taste as good as what we have at home. Even when we have taken the occasional vacation where we are at a hotel, we have always had a cooler with us for sandwhiches and/or breakfast and still be the end of the week just eating dinner's out for the week, we are SO tired of going out to eat instead of eating REAL food...if that makes sense. When we just returned from Ethiopia we were dead tired after out 18 hour flight and had no food, so we did go out to eat Mexican food and to buy a few groceries, but the next day we stayed home. I fixed homemade plain buscuits, raisin buscuits (we have homemade jam: pear, peach, strawberry and blackberry that I put up every year) scrambled eggs and owens sausage. For lupper that day around 2 my husband grilled a couple of steaks and I baked some potatoes and made green beans from the freezer from our garden. YUM.. no weird sauces just plain, good food...... Oh, yeah.. I made a pear crisp for dessert. Warm..with vanilla ice cream..

I think I'm the complete opposite of you. Our family LOVES to go out to eat. We love to try new dishes, new sauces, etc. Even my kids love to eat out. On vacation, we eat out for every meal. I have zero interest in cooking and we LIKE how food tastes in restaurants. My boys were on the adult deluxe dining plan in May and loved trying all the appetizers and desserts. They tried some great dishes at Calif Grill, Citricos, Narcoosses that I was even surprised they ordered. Even our DD 6 loves to eat out. Granted her favorite restaurants are Outback Steakhouse and Carrabas. :goodvibes However, she trys new things all the time and has excellent table manners from eating out since she was a baby. She and I also do lunch sometimes, just the two of us, at TGI Fridays and Applebees (her 2 favorite lunch places). She goes to school full-time this fall-1st grade, so that will be cut down a lot. It's a shame, she's a great lunch date!

I guess it's just a matter of enjoying eating out. Can I grill a filet that will taste as good as the one at Yachtsman Steakhouse-probably-but I wouldn't choose to do it.

The only thing I 'dread' about eating out for every meal on vacation is the thought of having to come home and start to plan, cook & clean up after every meal. ;)

I'm a total foodie and love trying new things so I enjoy eating out. I think WDW's restaurants do a wonderful job of producing a high volume of meals with inventive combinations of accompaniments and sauces at very good quality.

I also am a fairly inventive cook at home as well and we eat a very varied diet with one exception - no fish. My DH hates fish and can't stand the smell of it cooking. I never get to eat it at home so I always order it when I am out.

While it does get old having to choose from a menu on an extended trip, it generally only takes me a couple of home-cooked meals to miss the person who prepped, cooked, plated, and served my meal and especially miss the ones who do the dishes!

HELLZ NO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I DESPISE cooking! Well not the actual cooking but I make a HUGE mess when I cook and the clean up is the worst for me.

I will NEVER EVER EVER get tired of eating out. I work FT and so does DH and opposite shifts so dinner and all evening duties with the kids is all me. Cooking being one of them! DH doesn't know how to cook anything.

So yes having someone serve me is great! DH couldn't care less if we didn't eat out while there since he doesn't cook. He even mentioned the last time we were there that we should pack lunches for the parks. :scared1: I told him he lost his effin mind! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I told him that was fine if he got to the store, bought everything, packed it himself and fed it to us! That was the end of that!!!!!!!!

We have a 12 day trip planned in 7 days. :yay: Sometimes I do get a bit tired of eating in a restaurant, BUT what I am really looking forward to is my 9 year old picky eater son ordering WHATEVER HE LIKES on the menu, and my husband and I won't have to cater to what he likes. We can all just order what we like! (He gets serious migraines and vomits if he doesn't get full meals on time, but he is so picky that I just go insane!):scared1:

As I hate cooking and rarely do it (we never have every one home at the same time), it doesn't bother me eating out every night as we eat out at least three times a week now.

as a stay at home mom and the only preparer of meals, i can honestly say no i never get sick of other people cooking for me.

Count me in as one of those who will happily eat someone else's cooking while I am vacationing. I do the shopping, cooking and and cleaning at home and enjoy it, but I love sitting down to a meal I have not cooked and enjoying my coffee after dinner while someone else does the dishes. I do not cook or prepare meals while on vacation.

I guess that is what I wonder. I get tired of the way it tastes. Does that make sense? And I've heard lots of people saying the food tastes the same at each place...

I think that if you spend some time planning your meals ahead of time you can enjoy a wide variety of foods in WDW. My family enjoys dining as part of our vacation so I spend time checking menus and themes so that we will have an opportunity to experience different dining experiences throughout our trip. If you really do not enjoy eating out then perhaps the food at Disney will not have the same appeal to your family as it does with mine. Everyone has different expectations and tastes.

Our oldest daughter (13) is allergic to soy. There is only one local restaurant I trust to prepare her food as they make everything from scratch. Needless to say, we don't eat out much at home. This allergy has also changed how we vacation except for Disney---I still have to plan and prep and cook, bleh. That's what I do every day so it's not a vacation.

But at WDW with the help of the chefs, she can eat safely and well without worries. I LOVE eating out there! We plan our touring and ADRs so that we enjoy a wide variety of restaurants :)

My DGD is allergic to dairy and eggs, also a dining issue.....anywhere except at Disney! She can enjoy her meals and my DD knows that she is safe to eat a variety of foods she cannot have anywhere else but at home. At times more choices that she can have at home.

I cook dinner for my family each night, love home cooked food. I am a very good cook and while in Disney, towards the end of the trip, I cannot wait to get home and eat something made in my own kitchen.

I do get tired of eating out, not just at Disney, but any time we are away for more than a few days. But then I try to purposely mix it up a bit and seek out different sorts of foods.

Last time we went, we stayed in a 1 bedroom (so we had a kitchen, etc.) and you wouldn't believe how good ham sandwiches or even crappy ol' kraft mac & cheese tasted to me. :goodvibes I know, I am wierd.

We are a family of five so we *love* going out to eat! Everyone gets to order exactly what they want and it is so pleasant sitting around the table together relaxing, knowing that none of us has to clean the kitchen!

The only thing that is difficult is choosing healthy meals on vacation. The temptation can be tough! We eat pretty healthy at home so too many french fries or heavy sauces start to drag you down. Luckily WDW is making it easier and easier to choose wholesome dishes that aren't loaded with grease.

The first meal we cook at home is always a drag.:sad1:
