Do You Fly Your National Flag?

Just this evening I put out our flags (front entrance and back-yard) in advance of the upcoming Canada Day long weekend. Ours go out at this time every year and usually come down when I clean up the yard for winter. We live in a condo and can't have a conventional flag-pole and I miss that because I grew up with the flag flying over our farmyard.

No. We used to put it up around holidays but when it got worn we never replaced it.

We used to have a flag in our backyard. We kept it up over the summer, but after a couple of years it got old and ratty looking so we took it down and never replaced it.

My son usually puts a big Canada flag in his bedroom window on Canada Day though.

I have 2 flags. One that was on my father’s coffin when he died during active duty in the Navy. It was presented to my mother. The other flew over the Arizona Memorial in Hawaii. Neither one has been flown by me.

We have a few flags on display at our home. One flying outside, one my husband carried around during his deployments (framed and hung in our hallway), and two folded ones in boxes (one from DH's father's funeral, and one from his grandfather's).

Our local boy scouts do a fund raiser where they put a flag in our yard on patriotic holidays. They put them up early morning and collect them by dusk.

DD has the flag from my dad's funeral. She also has her DH's flag from one of his deployments (Iraq and Afghanistan.) Those flags are in display cases.

We do. We have one of those brackets on our porch, like this:

No, I don't own an American flag. No real reason why, just never something I've thought about.
