Do you fly or drive?

We almost always drive. We wait til morning rush hour is ending in Chicago then hit the road. By timing it like that we don't have any major traffic problems and drive straight thru. Usually stop for a couple hour nap in southern GA. We stop fairly often which stretches the drive to about 23-24 hrs but we aren't ready to kill each other by the time we hit WDW so it's worth it. And driving is a lot cheaper than airfare for 5 people.

"Boy that I-10 is one long hunk of asphalt."

And decorated with pine trees and swamps.

We have driven 4 of the 5 times we have gone. The last two times we had an extra adult (MIL) with us so we drove straight through. We left around 9 p.m. on Friday night, DD 2yrs sleeps all night long, and get there around 3 p.m. on Saturday. The first time we stayed at AKL and the last time at *** (All-Star Sport). We rest up and then check into our DVC resort early Sunday morning. Both times we stayed for 6 nights at DVC and left home Saturday morning.

We do both. A lot depends on the length of the trip. If we are staying less than 7 or 8 nights we fly. More than that we usually drive. We live in Central Illinois and it is about 1150 miles. It usually takes us about 19 hours. We drive it straight. When our daughters were young we had a Grand Caravan and the trip always went smooth. Now that it is mostly DH and myself we drive a small car. We actually love to drive. And we love having a car at WDW. Sometimes DH and I will drive down while others will fly and meet us. In May we are driving down for a few nights at WDW and then the 7-day cruise. My grown daughters and my MIL are flying down to join us on the cruise. This past trip we were at BCV for 5 nights and went on the 3-day cruise. We flew and rented a car. Usually we have to be down there at least 8 or 9 nights to make it worth it to drive.

We drive. At this point in our lives we usually have more time than money, and four plane tix is a lot of money. Flying is so stressful nowadays, with all the security issues. Plus we are spoiled and like having our vehicle at WDW. I am a fearful flyer anyhow. The only way I would consider flying would be if it was non-stop. With delays, flying sometimes takes longer than driving... I know people from school who missed connections and could have driven faster from Indiana to Orlando!
