i was just wondering...what do you all prefer...flying to DL or driving?

i used to fly all the time growing up, but now i totally loooove driving! i love all the stops we always make (buttonwillow!) haha, and how we're on our OWN schedual (never have to rush to the airport anymore, and if we decide to stay longer, its totally cool). i think roadtrips are fun and we always have a great time. and we get there in less than 5 hours, so its not bad at all:) maybe one day we'll fly, but id rather stay on the ground if i can:laughing:

what do you like?

Even if we would win the lottery, I think we would still do the road trip with a party bus complete with a driver!
We drive, I can't see us sitting in an airport or an airplane with 6 year old triplets, and an impatient hubby.
:rotfl:

woo! great to know im not the only one!!:goodvibes haha

especially with children, yes! i totally agree. i would go crazy with my monster on a plane!

If I have the time off from work, I would love to drive for any trip from now on; we had a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE flying experience on the way back from WDW from our honeymoon trip this past June.

It's scary; so I don't know if anyone wants to hear it. I don't want to freak anyone out...

I completely agree with you! Driving is much more enjoyable in my opinion. I don't feel as rushed when driving to Disneyland and I don't stress about finding my gate and making it to the airport on time. I also love making stops along the way, it just adds to the fun! :upsidedow

Can't afford to fly. We drive 25-27 hours each way. We've driven to San Diego every August since my son was almost 5. He's 12 now and could probably drive himself if he could drive. Tho with the dropping CDN dollar and the price of gas now we may have to find a closer trip for next year.

We just got off I-5 about an hour ago! We drive everywhere we go (except Hawaii;) ), we are a roadtrip sort of family. I even bought the I-5 highway sign with the mickey ears on it for my son's room!

I just remembered a good reason why we drive.....easier to haul back great finds, etc than on an airplane (the cost of checking in bags on most airlines is rediculous.
( I like to stop in Targets to check out the clearance stuff!) LOL
   I love bargains

for quick trips and/or more time in the parks. I'm flying out of our regional airport in two weeks and can't wait! It will save me a lot of time.

I love taking the road trip down from Sonoma County, CA in the summer. It's fun to drive with my son and have quiet time. We also have more room for souvenirs. :yay:

BUT!!! I will not DRIVE November - February. Too may times getting stuck on the grapevine during snow storms has made me fly during those months. I've been the last car allowed over at 2am while a storm is closing the grapevine behind me. YUCK!!!:headache:

I fly.... way too far in a car for me.

Where in CA are you at?

We are 632 miles north of DL, and we still drive. It takes us about 10 hours, but is still much cheaper than flying for us. By the time you take into account that we live at least 1 hour away from a small airport (with only 2 gates) or 3 hours away from a major airport, we would have to pay for gas to get there and back, parking for the time we were gone and our tickets... it is significantly cheaper for us to drive.

And plus, as a PP said, it's much easier to bring home the goodies! :lmao:

it totally adds to the fun!:goodvibes theres a starbucks about half way to disneyland that we ALWAYS stop by. do you have any special stops you have to make??

I fly.... way too far in a car for me.

how far away are you? i guess if we were too far, we would have to fly too!:)

Can't afford to fly. We drive 25-27 hours each way. We've driven to San Diego every August since my son was almost 5. He's 12 now and could probably drive himself if he could drive. Tho with the dropping CDN dollar and the price of gas now we may have to find a closer trip for next year.

wow, thats a loooong drive! you guys are definitely disney lovers to drive that far to get to DL:wizard:

10 hours is a pretty good drive! not tooo bad though. DL is worth it!!;)

what do you like?

Guess it depends on what kind of mood I'm in. I don't mind driving alone, and it is nice being on my own schedule. Plus you don't have to worry about paying for checked baggage. However I like the quick hop and having almost a whole day extra at DL. We are flying this next trip. It's on Southwest so I dont have to worry about luggage, but if in the future Southwest decides to change their baggage rules we will always drive. I can't pay soo much extra for luggage.

We always drive. In fact, we bought our mini-van last year specifically because of all the trips we take. We used to rent a minivan for the trip, now we have our own with the dvd player and all the bells and whistles. :)

There are 5 of us, 3 adults, so we take turns driving so it doesn't feel so bad.
