I was having problems with our internet dialup and I called the company for help. While I was put on hold it was telling me to visit their website for help with connecting to the internet. Is this Ironic? I asked the tech about the recording and he never thought about it.

Most companies have that. That way people with basic questions, like billing or minor technical support connection issues, can go to the website instead of tying up the switchboard.

That way people calling for tech support that can't access the internet don't have to wait on hold as long.

sometimes people may call on a cell phone so that they can work on the internet if the tech person needs them to.

Seems ironic to me. My sister doesn't have internet and was making phone calls about signing up with a provider. She was told several times that she could get info easier over the internet and to visit their website. ???? She doesn't have internet - that's the whole point!

Yes, I call from my cell phone in case they give me info over the phone I can use that might help me connect. But being told to get the info off the internet when I can't connect is just silly.
