I have seen some great comments about Deck 2 on the Wonder. Do you feel a lot of movement/motion/rocking on this deck? We stayed on Deck 7 on our last cruise so I'm wondering if we would get motion sickens. Thanks for the help!

If you didn't on 7, you shouldn't on 2. Usually, there's more motion the higher up you go. Mostly depends on the seas for your cruise.

Actually we felt more motion on Deck 3 and 4 than we did in our room on Deck 11 on Fantasy---

I guess it all depends on the person and what "motion" means to them....

The best way to explain it is to take a stick and hold it in the air. Think of the bottom of the stick as the bottom of the boat, or deck 2. Deck 7 (depending on the boat) would be almost the top of the stick or somewhere near the middle of the stick. Now swing the stick back and forth and side to side. All things being equal, the bottom part of the stick moves less than the top of the stick, so deck 2 moves less than deck 7. There are other factors that can make the bottom decks move quite a bit, but being closer to the center of the pendulum, those movements will be smaller than the top.

At least that's the way I look at it.

I can see where the "wiggling" down low might be perceived more as motion than the pitch and roll up top. My wife has a harder time in Animator's Palate than she does in Remy.

And some say the front of the ship has more motion than the back--and vice versa.

At one of the shows last week on Deck 3 there was so much motion that folks had trouble even walking down the stairs to get to their seats--and the stage curtains were swaying back and forth.

I can definitely say that the movement of the ship is different fore and aft. Aft seems to have more small motions in all directions. Kind of like that "wiggling" I was talking about. Forward seems to have more large motions, especially when it comes to pitch. It "crashes" more because it's breaking waves. We've been in some fairly high seas when staying forward and it was like a kids' roller coaster ride at times.

We've completed 3 cruises already and have one in a few weeks. For us, the lower levels were fine and we didn't encounter any problems. On our last cruise, we hit a storm and were in an upper level room (deck 10, I think), so 2 of our family had motion sickness and needed some dramamine (available in the gift shop).

A quick note: When the motion is bad and people are getting sick, there is almost always free Bonine outside the medical center in a wall pocket.

I'm very sensitive to motion. We've done three cruises: Dream deck 8 forward, Magic deck 6 mid, and Wonder deck 2 mid. Now, those were also three different itineraries, but we felt the most motion on the Dream deck 8 forward cruise and the least on the Wonder deck 2 mid. We have Magic deck 2 mid booked for our next cruise in March, but I feel good about our decision. For us, midship is definitely better and we really were very happy with deck 2. We're looking to book summer 2018 in Europe and we'll be going with deck 2 mid again.

The places I feel the motion most of all are dining rooms and the theatre. I usually feel it the least mid ship. I really think the forward and aft is more motion-oriented than lower vs. upper.

I agree.... I feel more motion higher up....

You don't feel anything docked.... but when exposed to the open waters of the Pacific. YES you feel more.

Motion sickness is relative. Yep I do walk funny a few days after the cruise.

It also depends on that particular moment and what the ocean is doing.

And see I seriously dislike the feeling of being docked! I'll wake up most of the time when we stop because it just doesn't feel right. And I'm not an early riser by nature.

I have an extremely sensitive equilibrium. I was motion sick tied up to the docks, but once we got out to sea and the movement of the ship was noticeable, I was fine.

I think that feeling might be what im thinking of that might make me feel woozy

Anecdotal - I would say you need at least a Force 4 situation before you start to really notice anything. IOW, on average, you're hardly going to know you're moving unless you're outside in the wind or in your room listening to it creak and groan.

I just came back from my 10/22-29 Fantasy Eastern cruise. On the evening of day 5 (after St. Thomas) we had quite a bit of motion, and the captain was predicting that it will worsen and continue all of day 6 (at sea).. I think something about us close to a storm system (not a hurricane, nothing dangerous). So here's from someone who rarely gets motion sickness (and never had morning sickness with two pregnancies), when the weather isn't good and there's A LOT (like A LOT) of motion, you WILL feel a little sick. I didn't have to take any medication but I was definitely not feeling great. A few members in my party had to take some motion sickness pills.

If you're worried about motion sickness, be prepared for it. We actually had great weather at every port but there's always a chance you're going to have some rough weather and it might be an hour, or it might be over 24 hours (in our case). Our stateroom hostess was actually sick from all the motion! She told me it's been a very long time since she's felt sick from the ship's movement!

You can try knocking on the captain's door and ask him to slow down.

Haha, if only! just was trying to find out if you felt more movements on the lower deck as we were on deck 7 our first cruise. Especially being Canadian with the exchange rate trying to save a few costs if we can.
