Do you ever write in cursive

I sign several hundred checks a week and it's warped my writing. It's a mess.

like some other posters have said, mine is a mix of cursive and print. it's being half lazy and not wanting to pick up the pen and sometimes i just like the way it looks. if i'm taking notes for someone else, however, i will try to write in all print. i can still write in cursive, but i don't like to.

I print the majority of the time. A lot of my writing is verbal orders from doctors, and I figure since it's so hard to read their "cursive" it's the least I can do for my co-workers.

Never, ever, use cursive. I either print, or use the computer. Even my signature is more of a scrawl than any recognizable cursive.

They say you can tell alot about a person from their penmenship..

With me,they may need a decipher code!!!!!:lmao:

I tried writing my notes in cursive the other day in class and it did not turn out well. Luckily, the information wasn't important because I can barely read it. Also, I don't know how to do any capital letters in cursive. I just forgot along the way...
My normal handwriting isn't cursive, but I do connect some letters.

Almost always.

I saw on Facebook today one of my friends who is still in high school stated that during the SAT, they make you write an honor statement saying you won't cheat and it's required to be in cursive. And that that was the hardest part of the SAT for him because he couldn't figure out how some of the letters were supposed to look.

In addition to that, some other friends agreed... One went as far as saying he just wrote plain letters and drew lines to connect them.

But really? They're not that much younger than me, maybe 2 years or so, and they don't know cursive? Were they not taught in school?

My son took the SAT today - he printed that paragraph and connected the letters. Third grade was the year that son learned limited cursive and it was never taught again. Crazy really.:confused3 His teachers over the years rarely made them write any assignments the majority were done on the PC.

I only sign my name in cursive – and I didn’t even realize it until now that I don’t ever use cursive for anything else. For some reason I prefer print. I guess the last time I wrote in full cursive was in grade school.

Never. What's funny is that we had to learn cursive the school year in 5th grade. We used it in 6th grade and that was it! Worthless. Everyone types now.

My writing is a mix of cursive and standard. So I'd have to say no, because I don't follow cursive rules.

Yes, unless a situation or form requires print, cursive it is for me. It's so much easier.

Cursive is way easier for me, plus my printing looks horrible. You'd think it would be the opposite.

I was shocked once when I was teaching and had written a bunch of notes on the board ahead of time and only half the kids could read it! It's definitely a dying art form.

Count me in as another who uses a blend of both cursive and print.

Cursive is too slow and ends up sloppy because of trying to hurry. I print in all capital letters, first letter that should be capitalized being larger. All capital letters when writing is easier to read than normal printing or cursive in my opinion.

I can't see how cursive is faster when writing than printing unless your cursive is chicken scratch. All the swoops and swirls add a lot to the actual work you are doing to write.

Never - only my name and even that you would never be able to tell what it says.

My DS is in 5th. grade and they don't even teach it.

I always write in cursive (some of the caps though may be in print, like a Q, which remember in cursive is a fancy #2).

We homeschool and I'm currently teaching my ds9 cursive (dd11 had already learned it before I pulled them from school 2 years ago). DD11 pretty much writes everything in cursive.

DS always HATED to write (print), but he LOVES cursive, and his cursive is much neater than his print. His print still looks like a 1st graders, while his cursive looks like it should for his age.

In our retail business, we have customers fill out their name, address, etc, and our salespeople have to write down orders, and I'd guess it's 90% cursive I see on the sales slips. Hardly any print. (or a mix of the 2, but I really don't see many adults ONLY printing).

Maybe it's a regional thing?? I know that's a joke here, but really, maybe it is. we're in NY... maybe NY schools held onto teaching cursive longer than other places?? I'm 43yo, and when I was in school, you simply wrote all your papers in cursive, from elementary school on. Or at least a mix. I think if a highschooler (or even middleschooler) had "printed" a whole book report, it would have looked weird. Now, this was a long time ago though. Things do change. But I want my kids to know cursive, write in it (or a mix) and be able to read other peoples cursive (that's the most important part of it to me). They'd be at a disadvantage in life if they couldn't read cursive.

I do a cur/print kinda thing. I do my own thang. Which is sorta how I live my life. :rotfl:
