Do you ever venture from your "home" resort?

Port Orleans French Quarter feels like home to us, but I'm considering staying at Port Orleans Riverside (again) or Coronado Springs (for the first time) for our next trip -- both for a different experience and to save some money.

If you have a resort that feels like home and stayed at another resort, how did you feel? Were you glad to try something new, or were you wishing you were "home?"

I consider WDW my home :goodvibes so no matter which resort I'm at I'm happy! :thumbsup2 The only time I didn't feel that way was at SSR.

I am going to WDW in two weeks with my sister and her daughter... we are staying at the WL, however, I have always stayed at the Poly... slightly nervous...weird, huh?

Don't be nervous :) WL is very nice! Main difference is the smaller room size. I'm sure you'll have a great trip! :thumbsup2

How Funny... our home resort is CBR, and we are considering Port Orleans French Quarter, or Riverside... But I dont know if I would love it the same

We loved CBR but POFQ was nice enough. I liked the smaller size of the resort. The pools do not compare though. My 7 year old was okay with the pool at FQ but it is seriously so small and the hot tub was barely bigger than a bathtub. So if you are pool people I would go with Riverside.

We called the Beach Club our home for about 21 years. We decided to try the WL on our trip this last February because of the lower cost and we always wanted to stay at that beautiful resort. It turned out that we really liked WL, a lot, but we also missed being at the Beach Club. The best part of the Beach Club for us was being able to walk into Epcot every day. We rarely had to take a bus while we were there. The hardest part for us when we stayed at the WL was having to take buses. And we really missed not being able to pop into Epcot.

But we are going back to the WL in December, for one more visit. There were a lot of things we liked better at the WL, like a real counter service and a more relaxing atmosphere. And the place is gorgeous. But then we will be back at the BC for the Flower and Garden Show in the spring. That is the way we plan to cope with our new love of two resorts. :)

I consider AKL my "home" resort, but we have stayed a bunch of places, including GF and BWI. We are looking forward to trying WL this summer.

We would stay at GF again, but we probably wouldn't stay at another EPCOT resort. EPCOT is my favorite park, but the resort area was not for us.

Over the years we have stayed at just about all the WDW resorts, except for the value resorts. We're DVC members so our stays these days are mostly at DVC resorts. As you can tell from my screen name, OKW is our favorite but we do enjoy staying at the others as well, just for a change.

Gosh, I guess you could technically say my "home" resort is AKV-Kidani, but as you can see from my signature, I've hopped around a lot at the DVC resorts. I'm so glad I have! AKV used to be my favorite, but as of last October, VWL is my favorite! Checking out the other resorts has never been a bad experience, but it is hard to top what you've already settled into, still it can happen.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

It looks like for the most part, you can't go wrong with a Disney resort. ;)

We were going to venture from what we consider our home resort, the Polynesian, and stay at Bay Lay Tower this August. Summer discounts were just released and ended 8/14. We were planning on checking into BLT 8/15 for 10 nights. The Summer deal is too good to pass up. Checked availability at BLT for dates before 8/14. BLT all booked up. Guess what, going back to Poly and saving money.:thumbsup2 It must have been meant to be. Need to change the ticker!:goodvibes

I consider YC my Disney home, but I have stayed at several other WDW resorts since I fell in love:). There was only one time that I was really missing YC, and that's because I REALLY hated ASMu. We've also stayed at WL, CSR, POFQ, and Pop since YC and have enjoyed them all. This year we are trying BWI and BC. Since so much of why I love YC is SAB, I feel like that's a pretty safe departure from YC. No matter how much we enjoy BWI and BC, I'm already planning YC next year for my 50th birthday.

We do split stays .. that way we get to go "home" (WL) and try something new all in the same trip.

We stayed at POP our first two trips and my DH didn't want to stay anywhere else but then we got a free upgrade to OKW on our third trip. Ever since then we've tried a different resort every single trip. Well we did do BCV and then YC the next year but those are 2 different resorts. This year we are trying CR garden wing. I don't know if we'll try every single resort or not, I've never been interested in SSR because we live right next to Saratoga so the theme seems boring to me. I think it is fun trying out different resorts and there are some that I would love to go back to again, AKL, YC and POR.

GF is our absolute favorite. However, we like to try new resorts from time to time. For the last two years, we've stayed at the GF. The year before, we stayed at AKL because it was DH's 50th and he wanted to do the sunrise safari. This summer, we're staying at BCV because we need more space, the price is right and we've never stayed at an Epcot area resort. I think it's fun to change it up every now and again.

Been to disney many times and my favorite resort is POR - however when we booked a last minute trip using a free dining pin , I could only get all star sports . I was nervous about staying there , but it turned out to be our best disney vacation yet !! Truely loved the resort , food court , location and cm 's. I would stay there again in a heartbeat . Sometimes it's good to try something new!
