do you ever "recognize" anyone from theDIS during your trips?

We'll be there Nov28-Dec4 and I feel like I read these boards so often I might run into someone and recognize them from their pictures, etc. Has this ever happened to you? Just wondering.

I did!! Sort of..

I was standing in line at the race cars and saw a little girl in this darling twirly dress that I recognized from disboutiquers..I came out and asked the mom if she made the dress, and if she was on DIS..and she was! She was the one who helped me figure out how to do the patchwork twirly thing.

Every time I see someone with the shirts or the cool stroller nametags etc, I can tell instantly they are a DISer. I always ask too..and then there's the understood chuckle as we share about our obsession, and then usually it's the husband sitting their rolling his eys making some comment about "if she'd spend more time doing xxx than on those boards..." and my husband gives the understanding nod. LOL

We will be there November 21st to Dec 5th. Maybe we'll see you.

I've bumped into other members by accident a few times (saw a lime green ribbon or overheard them mention the DIS). Once I was on a thread about CRT and another family got a ressie for about the same time as us (back when it was just breakfast and next to impossible to get). We recognized each other waiting for the bathroom :lmao:

I bumped into a DISer and her DH at CVS on Thanksgiving. I never realized she lived so close to me and shopped at my stores (I participate in the CVS threads). Months later we were mentioning the sale and our experience and I put 2 and 2 together and realized it was her. We had chatted quite a bit that morning!

I met two DisBoard members while on the bus back to Pop. One noticed my stroller tag and the other one knew me from the Disboutique Board. The Disboutique member and I were to meet later that night for Specto and Wishes.

Nobody was recognized by a picture. If I had spent anytime looking at the Disboutique members children I'm sure I would have recognized them from photos on the board.

I met some other people that were on Tour Guide Mike's site a few years ago. I didn't say anything to them at the time b/c it felt awkward to me. I sent them a PM after the trip, but that's it.

I saw two ladies with lime green t-shirts and just had to ask if they were DIS family memebers. They looked perplexed while I tried to explain what I was talking about. I decided not to ask anymore unless I saw a lime green Mickey head attached to something.

We'll be there 11/21-11/24, and I've got it on my list to go get some green Mickey heads...

Yep...By the lime green mickey heads...I have them attached to my backpack again for this December!

yes--lime green mickey heads help a lot. We were seated next to some nice folks at CP and she noticed mickey.

Do the lime green mickey's just symbolize that you're a member of theDIS? Or do they mean something else?

I saw two ladies last December in Toontown, one had a lime green mickey head on her backpack. I was in the middle of a 18 months olds' meltdown, so I didn't get to say hello, but wanted to!

I was picking pearls and someone saw i had the cindys carriage pearl cages and so she asked if i was dis and then watched my pearls get opened.. i picked 5 and got one set of twins! and a silver one. woot.

Yes, I noticed someone when we were at Disneyland last month! Actually, I recognized her daughter since I've seen her photo quite a few times on the Disboutique thread. Not sure she knew who I was though, lol!

Yes I have an without the lime green but I had seen many pics of them over the years.

Sort of the same thing???
Last summer I was scrapbooking with friends and I was looking through a CM catalog. There was a cute picture of a girl wearing a Minnie dress that was personalized by someone on the Creative-Disigns board! I had to tell everyone there about the Dis!:cool1:

Funny, my sister had the EXACT same experience!!!! ;)

It just means you are a Diser

I've been recognized a few times. Of course most of the time, I was wearing a LGMH with my Dis name on it! But one said they'd read my TR!!! I was so excited!

I recognized a fellow Disboutiquer at Crystal Palace in May. I knew her because of her daughters' cute outfits!

On the same trip, my kids and I were hanging out at the Grand Floridian, and I happened to look over the railing and I spotted two Disers waiting to go for lunch. So, I went down the steps and introduced myself! Thankfully, they knew who I was too!

I try to go up to anyone I think might be a Diser.

I had it happen to us when we were at Disney in October.DD was dressed in her boutique Halloween costume that I made and a group of ladies asked me if I got the designs from the Disboutique.I told them no I bought them elsewhere but I am on the Dis boards..LOL I just don't show my clothes on there.. :)

I have recognized a couple by their kids outfits. I sent DH up to one to ask in October. Although had I waited a few seconds I would have known for sure (once they got closer). I also ran into another near Tomorrowland in February, again recognized their DD's outfit. We were actually planning on meeting later that evening.

I have also been recognized also (by the outfits).

Last June we were waiting to be seated at Chef Mickey's and I saw a family wearing a shirt that I had recognized on Dis boards. It was so nice to finally meet someone on here. I have yet to see anyone with the lime green Mickey.
