I just havent been able to get excited about DL lately. Ive always been a fanatic and loved DL but now it just seems like alot of work to go to DL. For example just last week my wife asked if we were going to use our stimulus tax rebate to take a trip to DL this summer before our big October trip and I thought about it and I said "no we need to pay some bills or finish landscaping our yard." She was toungestruck and didnt know what to say. What is happening to me? This is scary! I havent even been on these boards as often as I used to be. Am I losing the DL spirit? Someone PLEAE help before I lose all the Disney spirit.

I can't imagine. But, it sounds like you might need a break to make the magic new again.

Maybe try a Disney Cruise, or a visit to the World.

Or, I have heard that there are other places to vacation. I have never seen these "other" places, but my husband grumbles about them every time I start planning our yearly vacation.

For as often as I go (umm...it's been about 22 years :scared1: ) NO! I don't get tired of it....but it is a lot of work to organize for any type of trip.

It sounds like maybe you need a break, or maybe look back through your pictures and/or talk about all the fun you have...maybe that will help.

What is it about the trip that makes it not appealing for you right now?

Yes, sometimes we do get Disneylanded out. Actually, that's why we're planning to visit WDW this coming December. We needed to change things up a bit and experience some new things. Okay, okay, we didn't venture that far from the Disney path, but.......:thumbsup2

As far as the boards go, I've been a member long enough now that I've become friends with some of the members here, so I keep posting whether I'm planning a trip or not just to keep in touch with everyone.:)

Adventures by Disney... if you want to stay Disney :) You can also try... I dunno NY? Wash DC? the Grand Canyon? Yosemite? Yellowstone? Miami? British Columbia? Hawaii?

My last two DLR trips have been surprisingly hot and crowded (a week ago, and back in Feb). I'd have to agree that the combo of crowds and heat have made me lose that Disney lovin' feelin' a bit.

That's why we're heading to one of those "other popular vacation spots" in September (see new ticker below). I'm hoping some time away from the mouse gets me excited to visit again when it's cooler and less crowded.

No. But then I don't live close by anymore... when we did though (10 min away), we were there at least once a week, if not more. So even then - no. I suppose when I first left from working there yes, but that was 16 yrs ago - so the answer today is no.

no , we did another place last summer and were just as worn out spending the day getting pummeled by waves and sunburnt.

I know how you are feeling.

I went to WDW 8 times in the past 5 years, even though I love WDW, I wasn't as excited to run back again. We decided to make the trip to DLR. We are very excited and can't wait for the new adventure.

i am missing my WDW as it is approaching my normal trip time but I will just love it more when I get there in December.

I am afraid for you!!!:scared: I hope you find your spirit!

I never, never, never get tired of Disneyland! However, I don't get to go to DLR very often, and I live on the East Coast so it is pretty easy to take a lot of shorter trips to different sorts of locations, thereby never diminishing my love for the Dis.

Not usually, no. But we do only go to DLR every June for two weeks, and sometime my family takes trips to Miami or Argentina. Ive never been anywhere else except for those three places lol In fact, 13 days after we arrive from DLR this july, we are going to miami for a week, to take a vacation from our DLR vacation. I hope that made sense. I hope you find your spirit because I would never say no to a DLR vacay!

Hey if your not feeling it than give it a break.

When the summer crowds and smells arrive at DLR I'm not as prone to be in the Dis-spirit myself but I don't go to DLR in that I have to plan massively, we just go whenever and there is no planning whatsoever. If I had to travel and plan and choose DLR over other trips and experiences than I would definitely take breaks to get the enthusiasm going and to experience other places and things.

That said, we go every couple weeks in the evenings and enjoy the parks while the crowds are low and even if we are there for only a few hours we will usually be able to ride a ton of rides just because of the timing.

Just last night we were able to stay in Thunder Mountain RR and Splash a few times as the lines were not filling up the loading area. I always have the Dis-spirit while the parks lines are low!

I cannot see myself ever growing tired of Disneyland or WDW, but that doesn't mean I don't want to see other parts of the U.S.

We were lucky enough to take two road trips cross country and saw some really cool/fun/amazing things; Grand Canyon, Mt. Rushmore, Mall of America, etc.

I think the key for us is balance. I want my kids to have fun at Disney just like I did growing up, but I also want them to realize it's a big world out there with lots to see and explore.

We do occasionally, but we go a lot. And it's usually never long before we want to go again. ;)

No, if I ever lose the true magic, then just shoot me. But,we go once a year - right after Thanksgiving-so it's a combination of holiday magic and Disney. Plus the crowds are usually smaller.

But, I have to say...we're all different. If it's not there for YOU now, then take a break. OMG..did I just say that?? But also realize...do you maybe, just maybe need to dig down real deep to that inner child? To that place where even after all the planning and budgeting, you still hear that call of believing in good, childhood and pixie dust - for your sake, not just your children's.

I really don't want to be schmaltzy, but Disneyland always feeds my soul...especially when I really need it...and may not know that I need it.

Great question! ::yes:: "Tired" is not the quite the right word, but in a nutshell the answer is "yes" for us.

There are certain activities in life where higher frequency reduces the fun. To me Disney magic falls very close to Christmas magic. :santa: Family, friends, special music and entertainment, special drinks and foods, etc. Christmas of course has a religious aspect, but on the other hand DLR has deep cultural roots in the American psyche. Christmas would lose much of its appeal if it happened too often. Once a year is just about right for me.

DLR is similar for me. I cannot imagine being an AP holder living nearby DLR and going a few times per month. It would be like living at the North Pole.;) I like our visits to be spaced out to maybe once a year. This year we will probably not go to DLR at all because of the WDW trip later this month. Next DLR trip will probably be in summer 2009.

I could not imagine not being able to imagine the beauty of being an AP holder with DLR at ones doorstep. We travel alot but that never inhibits my enjoyment in visiting DLR on a whim... we just go.

Maybe that is the difference, I don't have to plan a big expensive vacation around going to Disneyland (we'll go to WDW once every 5-10 years) so it is not a 'to do ro not to do' issue as it is with the many who are not in the local area.:dance3:

My first visit to any Disney Park was when I was 35 and moved to San Diego from OH. I had fun, but once was enough.

That was until my DD was born and I started doing more planning to go. Then it wasn't just hot and crowded, it was my park!!

So, this year we had annual passed, and I have tried to go at least once a month. Now that my pass i sabout to expire, I am going about every three weeks. The more I go, the more I love it!!!

I still do something new every time (last visit was the Monorail). And since I am going to come back, I can pick and choose..do or not do, pick it up next time!!!

Each visit I meet at least one very fun and memorable CM...

So, for now...can't see any fatigue setting in!!!

Amy

I go every 2-3 weeks, and sometimes I'm not excited about going but it is not so much Disneyland that I'm tired of as it is crowds, heat, or rude people. I try to change it up every time, I don't care if I ride anything and many times my only ride has been the tram coming in, and maybe leaving too but sometimes I'll walk back to the structure just for fun.

My daughter and I have gone just to eat lunch at the Blue Bayou and shop at DTD. We stay into the evening and listen to the entertainment in DTD. Another time we decided to see what it would be like to see every single Billy Hill show in a day. Each one was a bit different, and Kirk Wall noticed us each time and gave us such a teasing which made it all the more fun.

If I HAD to ride the rides each time, I would be bored, but since I got my AP, that feeling has gone, and I find I enjoy my time so much more because I'm relaxed about my day. I don't have to do anything, and I like that. Sometimes we'll stay at one of the DLR hotels for another change, and then we'll bring DVDs and watch them in the early evening while we hear the fireworks going off in the distance. My time at DL is also different depending on who I bring with me. Some only enjoy doing rides, others want to see shows or shop. It's always different, but I would be happy just to sit on Main Street and listen to the music, or do like I did last time, sit along the Rivers of America and watch the activities around the island.
