Do you ever get bored with food?

Does this happen to everyone or just my family? We get to the point where we just don't know what to eat anymore. We're hungry, but nothing sounds good. Which mostly makes for eating out, and who can afford to do that all the time. Are we weird? Be nice;)

it seems that my grocery list is the same each week........so I look at my Taste of Home magazine and try to come up with different menus......this week the maine shrimp is on sale ....so I bought that and sealegs and will saute them in garlic and olive oil and a little linguini and alfredo sauce.......hope the other half of this house likes it......I do love shrimp though

when haddock chunks are on sale I love to make a seafood chowder.....with the fish.....sealegs.......clams and a few odd shrimp.....delicious.......that with a salad and garlic bread makes a good meal

You are not weird!

I go through those phases too. I normally pull out one of my cookbooks or surf one of my favorite recipe sites for new ideas. I have found some great recipes that way. In fact, I have a pot of Cheddar Cheese soup (found the recipe on-line) simmering right now for lunch!

I'm glad you brought that up. I definitely get bored with food. I get tired of deciding what to eat and of cooking - and we don't even have kids yet. I want to find something that tastes really good, is filling, is nutritious without being high-calorie, that I can just open up and eat, and that isn't outrageously expensive. This sounds gross , but it would be kind of like a human version of dry cat or dog food. I'd eat that for one or two meals a day, and then just have to worry about decisions and cooking for one meal a day. Anybody know of such a thing?

DH was so tired of hearing me say that before our last Disney trip! After staying at AKL & eating at Boma, I was more willing to look for & try new things. I also discovered the Recipe board here about that time. There are some great recipes over there! (Since the name has changed, though, it's a little tougher to find the recipe threads....more posting about scrapbooking & other crafts now.)

It's made a huge difference around here! No one complains about having "the same old thing" around here any more. ;)

If you're weird than so am I. DH and DD will eat almost anything but I get bored. We could be overflowing with food and I'll look around and not find anything that interests me. I've been doing low carbs for awhile now which eliminates a lot of the food in our house.

SKPORTER: How about soup?

My DH and I are ridiculous in this arena. It's like, "What do you want to eat?" "I don't know, what do you want to eat?" Talk about bored.

He, being middle-eastern, introduced me to a whole world of different food, but we are both bored now. We need help. Oh, and we both work long hours and never seem to have time to cook. And as he says, I'm "a disaster in the kitchen." We'll get it together eventually.

This sounds really good! Would you mind sharing a bit more detail on what all you put into it? :teeth:

I never get bored. My wife gets frustrated with me because I am "boring" to cook for. I like simple meals and don't like to experiment. When we go out to eat she can usually guess exactly what I'm going to order. But, hey, I'm happy :D

You sound just like my DH. He would be happy with the same old menu every week. His tastes are very basic when it comes to food. When we go out to eat, I usually order for him or when he asks me what he wants, I usually tell him which dish to order. We have gotten some of the strangest looks from servers with me placing his dinner order.

I get this way all the time. Its the whole shopping, putting it away, take it out, cook it, serve it, listen to someone complain, clean it up and start all over. Thats why I love to eat out. Look at all the steps I've cut out of my day. It gets really bad when I get tired of eating out and can't decide where to go.

Oh yes, the old boring food slump. I have been in it for a couple of years now...:o  :o

DH has heartburn, 7yodd is super-picky. 12yodd and me like veggies and chicken.

Lately I have been just making dinner and if they eat fine if not whatever....

Then I feel guilty for complaining about what I am going to eat. I should be grateful and come up with spectacular dinners, right? It's a vicious cycle.

No you are not wierd.
