Do you "dress" for the plane?

I grew up in New Castle!!! I moved away after college. Augustine's Pizza is the absolute BEST, can't match it out here. Regarding how to dress, we dress for comfort...hadn't thought of the safety issue but we don't wear synthetics much anyway. I like to wear something loose b/c it is so cramped. I usually wear sandals but will wear tennis shoes after reading these posts. I flew non-rev on American last year and you do have to wear a dress or skirt, that's why you may see people dressed up some in the airports.

Since air travel has now gone the way of mass transit, I would think "bus" now rather than "special occasion travel". Wear what would make you comfortable on a bus.

A poster mentioned that the more "professional" you look, the more likely it will be that you'll be granted an upgrade to business class or first class, and that's probably true. I don't worry about that anymore since I found Midwest Express. ALL their seats are First Class! (My new airline. I won't fly anyone else anymore!)

Think comfort and weather. Don't get all grody (bathing suits, unusually tight/short shorts, t-shirt you wore to bed for the past few nights) but I don't think it's really necessary any more to "dress" for a plane trip.

Maybe if the fares were cut in half, I could afford to go out and buy fancy clothes for the trip!!;)

We wear nice comfotable clothes. I don't think the person in front of us or back of us or across the aisle even care what we have on!! Let alone the hard working flight attendants!!:smooth:

Did we all have the same parents? My mom would make us get dressed up if we went flying. Eventually we got to dress a little bit more casual, but it was still new clothes. Now I just dress for comfort.

I dress not with my mind on comfort or safety. I dress with my mind on STAINS!!!!! LOL!!! My kids will be 7, 5 and 3 this summer at WDW, and, of course, you never know what DH might spill!!!

So we all wear dark - and comfortable - clothes! Funny so many people are talking about dressing up to fly...just this morning my DD (almost 7) asked if she could wear a dress on the plane to WDW instead of shorts! Maybe they'll upgrade her to First Class!

I have 4 or 5 of those silk "jogging suits" with the matching jacket and pants. The pants have an elastic waistband that's hidden by the very lightweight matching jacket, you can wear a cotton T underneath. They're very comfortable for air travel, and look stylish, way more fashionable than "sweats". Silk falls under the natural fabrics category. The only bummer is that they have to be dry cleaned to keep the integrity of the silk.:bounce:
