Do you do the Electic/Cha-cha Slide at parties??

Do you do these dances at weddings/parties? Or do you cringe when you hear the music?

I like the electric slide. I DESPISE the cha cha. I told my DJ at my wedding that under no terms was he to play the cha-cha song even if people begged for it.

I do the electric slide, but I don't think I have had the pleasure of the cha-cha song. My girls are in awe that I know the electric slide.

My DS (9) is the Cha Cha expert. You should have seen him during the sail away party last November when we went on our DCL.

I told him girls like boys who can dance, so you keep cha chaing.

I guess to each their own, but I think its a fun dance, that everyone in the family can do.

I hope I can explain it in words since I can't show you. You stand with one foot in front of you and the other behind you. Now you rock forward on one foot with the back foot off the floor and then backward on the other with the front leg off the floor. If you do it with a little speed, you have it.

Yes I cringe when I hear the music...

But sadly yes, I end up dancing more often than not. At family weddings, my SIL's get me out there to electric slide.

My 4.5 year old son LOVES the cha cha slide so I go dance with him. I figure it will only be a short time before dancing with your mom is considered stupid and embarrasing, so I'll cha cha slide as long as he still wants me to.

Thankfully the Cha Cha Silde wasn't out at my wedding but I told the DJ at our wedding if there was any hint of the electric slide played I'd pull the plug on him at that moment and there would be a stop payment put on his check. Same went for the YMCA, Celebration, Love Shack and Shout. Yes, we were that serious about NOT hearing these songs. I worked in the wedding reception industry for several years and DH worked as a wedding DJ and both of us would be happy to not hear any of those songs again.

They weren't missed.

I think the only one of those my DJ did was YMCA. At first I said no, but he was like "I have funny hats and everyone always loves it" I let it slide and it did end up being hilarious. My uncle whom I've NEVER seen dance and rarely see smiling actually wore a crown and grooved down. I have a picture of him that I wish treasure forever because it was MY wedding that made him break down one of his walls.

I can totally understand not wanting them though. That's pretty much how I feel about the cha cha. It makes me angry just hearing it. I told the DJ, even if people are throwing money at you, under no circumstances are you to play it. I gave him an extra $50 at the end of the night to thank him for not playing it! LOL!
