when you stay on site? we're staying ten days, we don't have that many clothes, lol. is it a real hassle? Do the moderate resorts offer a wash and fold service?

I would do laundry if I planned to stay that long. However, I own at DVC and there is a washer and dryer in the 1- and 2-bedroom units. I can throw a load in the washer when we get back to the room and then toss it in the dryer while we are all getting ready in the morning.

A lot of people do laundry while the family spends the afternoon in the pool. It can be a hassle if everyone has the same idea that you do.

All of the resort hotels offer a valet laundry service. I don't know if this is the current pricing, but you will pay AT LEAST that much (if not more) per piece.

It's no more hassle than going to a laundromat.

WDW does offer valet laundry service at all resorts, but it is shockingly expensive:

Shirts- $6.00
Pants- $7.00
Blouse-$6.00
Golf Shirts-$4.50
TShirts-$4.00
Underwear/Socks-$2.00 ($6.00 minimum)

Laundry Service- 5% environment fee
Laundry Service Toddler Clothing- 25% discount

I've done laundry on much shorter trips since we go during September which usually means two outfits/day for our two adults. We just don't own and aren't willing to buy enough clothes to cover all that. Plus the luggage would be a nightmare.

I've done laundry at the swan (which really meant going across to the dolphin) and that was fine and kind of some nice down time. Then I've also done it at boardwalk. The whole process takes about 60-90 minutes so a lot faster than what I'm used to at home.

I also use/bring shout color catchers and everything goes in together. Makes life a little easier for me.

yep i will always do a load about half way through the trip. we always stay at disney and i always use the laundry mats on site. My kids and husband are usally watching tv or at the pool when I do it. I use the kids stroller and a bag to bring it down to the laundry mat and back.

We stayed at CBR. We threw the laundry in the washers on our sleep in morning, walked down for breakfast, came back and threw it in the dryer while we walked around the resort a bit more. Did not feel at all like a chore and allowed us to pack half as much.

I never plan on it, but sometimes it happens. Our first trip it was surprisingly warm for December, we did a load of the warm weather clothes because I didn't pack for 80 degree weather every day.

Our second trip it was seasonally temperate for December and no laundry was necessary.

I suspect if I went in the summertime I would have to do laundry, as it seems pretty sweaty in WDW in summer, and I probably wouldn't get a whole day out of the same outfit without feeling icky.

For us, it's not that bad to do our own at the resort. My husband did it while the rest of us napped.

We go for 10 days every year. If Im lucky, I have to do laundry only once (but have to do several loads). The only problem I have ever had is doing it at night, when everyone else is in for the night, and has the same idea. I now try to do it at the crack of dawn and have the place to myself...this way I can split my wash into several dryers as they never dry the clothes all the way!

We absolutely do laundry. And I won't leave my laundry in the laundry room (years ago at an apartment I had my laundry stolen and I haven't gotten over it) which makes it something more of a pain, but not THAT much of one.

I was just gonna ask, can you leave your laundry and sit by the pool? guess not

the valet service costs more than I've paid for some of my clothes :rotfl2:

I always put my laundry in the washer, go to the pool, and go back and check to see if it is done in about 45 minutes. I have been doing this for 20 years and never had a problem

We never do laundry on vacation, but we have a lot of clothes, so there is never any need. I avoid laundry for 10 days, and DH avoids driving. Two of our favorite perks of a Disney vacation.

We usually have a 1 bedroom as well. But when we have a studio or regular room I just time laundry for the pool day. Then while dh watches the kids at the pool I pop back inside to deal with laundry as needed. Some resorts have laundry rooms near the pools which makes it a lot easier.

Bring your quarters, I think it's $2 a load and $1 for detergent. Sorry I am not positive on costs since dvc gets laundry for free. But I have noticed it is not terribly uncommon to have issues with the change machines. And I hate having to go find change.

You can definitely do laundry and sit by the pool! :beach:

The only two resorts where I've done laundry in the laundry mats were WL and POFQ. In both cases, it was convenient to put the laundry in and go to the pool while waiting to change it out. I think most of the resorts are designed that way.

I bring pop-up hampers for the laundry. You can use your phone to set a timer to let you know when the load should be done.

Yes, halfway through our trip. But, only because the roadtrip to the resort adds 1.5 days each way to the vacation, meaning more clothes than you would need for a 7 day stay if you were flying. Plus, everyone has at least one "favorite" pair of shorts or top they want to wear more than once.

We usually go to the laundromat on site (which is never too far from the room) - after the smaller kids go to sleep. By day 4 onsite, we've got 6 days worth of clothes to wash, which is about 3 loads of laundry. Oldest DD is put in charge in case anybody wakes up. Washing takes only 45 minutes, but the drying takes FOREVER - seriously, it takes 2-3 full cycles to get things dry - ugh!. LOL. DH typically runs back up to the room once or twice to check and make sure everyone's ok. The rest of the time we sit and chat and discuss our plans for the next day. I make sure to bring park maps and a pen with me! We've actually never run into anyone else in the laundry room on any of our trips - always had it all to ourselves, so no waiting for other people to finish using the machines. Either not a lot of people do laundry on vacation, or we just had good luck.

I do laundry. Usually stay at a moderate.

It's easy to do. I usually bring my kindle to the laundry room and after getting the clothes started hang out by the quiet pool reading or if I want to swim, I'll do it then.

Takes a couple of hours for me so while I don't normally enjoy dealing with laundry, it is a nice break.

Yes! Like others, I do it on a down afternoon while everyone else is resting or at the pool.

Most of the time I'm in the laundromat by myself and can do several loads at once.

I love coming home without mountains of laundry to do. Having dirty laundry come home with you just feels like you walk in the door and bam already gotta get back to the daily grind. Takes the lingering Disney magic away in a heartbeat.

Yes! When we were at AoA, we were in a Lion king suite. We went to the mermaid pool and used the laundry there in the middle of the day. There was one other family at the pool and nobody doing laundry. We bring quarters (enough for laundry and pressed pennies). I've found pouches or little bottles of tide in the travel toiletries at target.

I prefer to pack fewer clothes and do laundry mid trip. It just is easier to take 90 minutes and wash/dry/ fold than pack for an outfit a day (or more!)

I've done laundry at the Poly and at the BWI---nice clean facilities, too.. It's like a flashback to our early married days when we took the Sunday paper to the laundromat and did it all in one fell swoop:goodvibes and read and slurped coffee as we waited for things to wash and dry.
