Do you live now where you grow up? Same city, same state, or completely different? Why do you think you have stayed or left from that area ?

I live 50 miles from where I was born but 3,000 miles from where I "grew up" (although DW says I NEVER grew up :)

The main reasons I left California are that I don't like the lifestyle and I hate earthquakes and smog. I miss my friends and some of my family, but I wouldn't move back for anything.

I was born in San Jose, CA spent 7 years in lake Tahoe and the rest I've lived here in Danville/San Ramon. So yeah I'm still here. I wish I wasn't. I love the area but I'm tired of seeing the same people everywhere.

We don't currently live in the same area where we grew up, but have been saving up so that we could afford to buy a house there for the past few years and are FINALLY househunting (yay!). We are moving back to the same state, but not the same city, mostly because my parents moved out of the city and up to the 'burbs. My husband's family lives about a half hour from where my parents moved. We would like to live close to both of them but can't afford it so we'll be moving about a half hour north of there.

I can't WAIT to move back "home." I've been pining away for the past few years. We moved away for school and career opportunities and are moving back because that is where we want to start a family.

I moved to this area when I was 8. I went away to college (well sort of, just down the road, but I lived on campus and not at home) and then I found myself searching for living quarters of my own back here. I just feel safe and comfortable here... something about feeling okay to walk by myself around the neighborhood at night is so nice, and to say hi to people you walk past, whether you know them or not is what I like. So when we bought our house a few years back, we bought in this area too!

No we do not, but I would live where I grew up in a heartbeat if there was a job for DH there. :)

I've lived in NJ all my life, even when I was working in NYC, I lived in Hoboken. I even went to Rutgers, so I didn't even go out of state for college. I live about an hour from where I grew up though, I needed a change. DH grew up in PA, but we're about 45 minutes from there, one of the reasons we live here!! Also, I need an hour buffer from my mother!!!!

Thannks to the military, neither DH or I are anywhere near where we grew up. I was born in CT, grew up in TX (moved there when I was 8); DH was born in MO, grew up in IL. We got married in ID, and now we live in LA!! Geography test anyone?!?!:teeth:

Like Preshi I was born in San Jose too...and have never left. My love for Disney lured me to Florida 11 or 12 years ago...I stayed with a cousin intending to move there...but I chickened out and came back to CA. So, I am lifetime resident of San Jose. Yes, we have earthquakes, but seems like everywhere has something (tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.).

This is home for me. Right now, I don't plan on ever leaving.

Yup. I've always had a Syracuse address, except since we bought a house just east of the city in 2000. My parents still live in the house I grew up in which is about 5 or 6 miles from me.

DH is from a suburb west of the city. Our families are here. It's home.

Same state, different city. I'm now 50 mins from where I grew up, with every move we seem to move further & further away, but this is it now for qutie some time................no more moves.

I live about 4 miles from the house I grew up in (my parents still live there), different town, though. :D

Not only the same area, but the same house that I grew up in! This is the first house that my Dad ever built for my Mom - back in 1941..

At any point in my life, I would have picked up and moved to another state in a heartbeat (I think I have a bit of "gypsy" in me ;) ) but unfortunately, both my first husband and my current DH don't handle "change" very well..

Unfortunately I am still here in Michigan! Lousy weather!! I live about 20 minutes away from where I grew up. Hopefully this will change cause I am planning to head down south to Orlando this summer. And I hope not to return back, but only to visit! (I'm going to miss my family...sniff sniff :( )

I still liv ein the same town that I grew up in. I live about 3 minutes from the house I grew up in. We stayed here because it was small town and I liked the idea of raising my kids in a small town. Now its getting much, much bigger and we are moving over 1 town (its smaller).

Yup born and raised here in the same town, but just live in a different house.

I live near there. My old neighborhood has gone way downhill since I lived there....:(

I live about 15 mins from my parents house, which is the house I grew up in. For 6 LONG years I lived about an hour away and hated every minute of it. I'm very glad to be back home!!! That lighthouse in my tag is just one of the reasons I love it here.

I live about 700 miles north of where I grew up. Got tired of the Bay Area so we moved to the Great Pacific Northwest. And we love it! Still close enough to visit family often, and it's nice still living on the same "coast."
