I have NO intentions of cooking AT ALL while staying at VWL. When we were there in Sept '04 we bought some yummy breakfast things like cinnamon buns or scones for everyone to nibble on if we weren't going out to breakfast. (no cooking involved there!) ::yes::

There was one time we had pizzas that we cooked in the oven, it was during Hurricane Jeanne and we weren't allowed to leave our room. Other than a situation like that, I have no intention of cooking at all.

Now that I think about it, we did use a pot one year to make Easter eggs; but that doesn't count as cooking, does it?!

Your poll made me aware that I've already broken that promise! I checked them all! YIKES!

Seriously, it depends on who we are traveling with. BFs we only do snacks and occassional breakfast.
DGKs and our DKs we always cook one meal, usually a simple Italian dish w/ salad and garlic bread on the evening after a day at BB. Since we have made many DVC trips and our pace is much more relaxed, we really are "at home" and dinner and relaxing is just part of our fun.

I really must be mellowing with age :rotfl:

I guess I love to cook and love to cook in the DVC kitchens - especially VB and OKW. BWV is a little small.

We have breakfast in the villa - same as at home, cereal, juice, coffee. (At VB might have a full breakfast.) Soup or pasta for lunch, then simple dinner.

The first time we went to WDW we ate a sit-down meal at one of the finer places every lunch and dinner. Now, we are not so rushed and have a far more relaxed pace.

WIth a glass of wine in hand, and no real deadlines to meet, it really is rather enjoyable. I like a few meals out, but prefer cooking to eating out most of the time. It is nice family time.

The full kitchen was the major selling point of DVC for me. I hated being trapped on the property and being forced to waste soooo much money on meals. What a savings over our pervious trips were we paid big bucks at WDW restauants and got lots of very marginal and non-memorable meals. Now we eat out only at the "nice WDW establishments", and we skip the counter service scene all together. We eat 85% of our meals in...full breakfasts light lunches and full dinners. We use the grills almost every trip and cook two dinners on one night i.e. steaks tonight, hamburgers for tomorrow.

With the advent of precooked bacon, I can make a full breakfast for our family in less than 15 minutes, and still make the pre-opening show at the Magic Kingdom.... :sunny:

I couldn't vote because there's no box I could check off. We only use the fridge for drinks and keep some snacks from the car ride down in the cabinets! I DO NOT cook on vacation, there are too many other things I'd rather be enjoying.

Yes! We do both quick and full meals. Mostly breakfasts and a few dinners. We usually eat lunch at the parks.

We ususally do some of all of your options when we go, but we also usually eat out at least once per day. A very common scenario for us is to have a a quick breakfast for everyone at "home," lunch for all of us out somewhere (usually not at the parks though, since my kids don't like the food there) and then we'll make a quick dinner for the kids also at "home" but DH and I don't eat it and we go out (just the 2 of us) in the evening.

I wish they had crockpots in the villas. That would be really nice!
Deb

Yep, a crockpot & a muffin tin! A 4 slice toaster, too!

We like to get an early start so breakfasts in are easier, faster & cheaper.
Dh starts the meal, while I shower & DS16 groggily arises :goodvibes
We'll do eggs, turkey bacon, toast. Or lots of fresh fruit, bagels or oatmeal or pancakes, French toast.
Love sitting out on the porch in the early morning hrs & enjoying coffee & fruit! :cloud9:
We do a big lunch in the parks, so our dinners are simple.
I make big salads, spaghetti, roasted chicken, open faced hot chicken sandwiches, soups etc
Like Deb, DH & I don't mind cooking on vacation or doing laundry.
I should add, we live in an old house (225+ yrs) which is also in a (it seems ;) ) constant state of re-hab, so the 'modern' facilities of a villa seem downright luxurious! :teeth:
Not that we want to make a career out of it, but chores just seem easy at the villas
I also do not like to eat meals out constantly, upsets the tum! :worried:

My children are lucky if they get Lucky Charms W/milk poured on them. I'm on VACATION!!!!!

Depends which resort we are at. For the Orlando resorts we will definitely have coffee and light breakfast. Other than that usually just use mic for popcorn and reheating leftovers from dinners out.

At Vero is another story. Last time we were in a cottage with three other families. As we drove down and were only there for a few days, we cooked dinners. Someone brought a lasagna along and then we shopped for the other few meals. We just didn't want to leave the cottage or the beach to sit in a restaurant !! We knew we were headed to Orlando next and plenty of eating out there.

It's the same for us. I like having the time and a big kitchen to prepare meals for family and friends. Besides eating out often enough at home (Philly's got some wonderful restaurants), we often take friends and family who would otherwise never take their kids to WDW...and most aren't exactly financially secure. After paying for their tickets (and the points for the room, our own transportation costs, ears for the WDW virgins, stuff for the kids, etc.), there's no way we could also subsidize their meals other than eating in the rooms much of the time. :confused3

The only downside to the kitchens at OKW and VB is my wife reminding me how much more space and cabinet storage they have...but at least we have a gas range. *sigh*

On our last trip we did the fast dinner stuff; hot dogs, maybe a burger or two. But not every night. And I think this was the first time we even used the stove in all the trips we made!!!

Would I do it again; maybe.

We eat in twice a day. Breakfast and usually dinner. Lunch at the parks or other resort if we are pool hopping. I have made tacos, frozen lasagna, baked chicken. Nothing fancy. Usually lots of quick dinners like mac and cheese, sandwiches, soup.

Breakfast is usually cereal ,toast and some times eggs

This is my "daddy thing," but if we're in commando mode (not as much as we once were), then since I'm the habitual early riser, I fix breakfast for the rest of the brood as they're struggling to get themselves together in the mornings and have it all laid out to eat at their own pace. It's a great time saver for us.

We have done meals for the other times of the day, but with the advent of all the dining plans and discounts, I don't see that happening much anymore. But microwave popcorn and other snacks, soft drinks, and juices will always be staples.

Thank goodness someone else feels the way I do! I could not imagine ever wanting to waste precious vacation time preparing and cleaning up kitchen mess. But some people actually enjoy cooking. To each his own! :flower:

We've done all of the above. We have a four year old and generally return to our room for lunch and nap/pool time. (Matthew takes a great nap in the afternoon which enables us to stay at the parks until 10 pm or as late as 1 am!)

We generally eat dinner before returning to the parks. This is particularly helpful during the hot summer season, but we also do it in early December when there are lots of activities (MVMCP, Candlelight Processional, etc.) that lend to a natural break in the day. We generally have one our two sit down dining reservations and just snack at the parks other times.
