Do you consider it stealing?

I'm a teacher, too. I DIS during lunch/recess and special areas. I also check e-mail frequently throughout the day as parents and the principal often e-mail us during the day. I don't play games, just check e-mail mostly and browse the DIS.

Not working, so I guess I'm not stealing.. :teeth:

I don't eat but I've been know to grab a bottle of soda from one of the coolers by the register and drink it while I shop at Walmart. When I go to the SuperWalmart, I'm in for 3 hours minimum. I always take my bottle to the register & pay for it. In fact, once an employee overheard one of my boys comment that he was thirsty as we walked in. She suggested we take a drink and pay for it when we check out. She said it's fine.

Did you post on the wrong thread?
;)

I might do the occasional post when it's dead, but if it's really busy, I might go days without even opening up the internet browser.

I don't feel too guilty about it. For all the times that I have been called at home, beeped in a yoga class, and received calls on my mobile phone (once at a wake) when I was not on call (in addition to whatever work I do when I am on call) I figure we're even. I don't think the occasional post here, or the occasional look-see at my bank's website has ever caused my work to suffer.

im in school when i dis some times....SOME TIMES!! but only during "study hall" and stuff like that..well there was this one time in computer tech that we showed our favorite web site....yes my computer has a disney theam at school...but no...i can only steal my teachers time...but if that was the case..all the kids who ask "what 'to (two/too)' should i use here" and are in 9th grade are wasting her time too...yes that is the right 'too'

I am currently retired, but the company I worked for prior did not like people to surf the net during work hours unless they had a legitimate reason to do so. If they found an employee doing it excessively, they would fire them.

I surf the net, play zuma, and smoke during a work day. As long as the work is done then no one cares. :)

We just had an employee quit because he got written up for abusing his internet access. His record showed that he was on the net from 3 to 8 hours every day! He wasn't getting his work done - that was a distraction that interferred with his surfing time. :confused3

My boss said as long as all my task are done for the day and I don't fall asleep on the job, I can surf the net as much as I want. I work nights for a small hotel, very small hotel, I am a desk clerk, and once people are checked in and I've ran reports, answered the phones and prepared breakfast for the next day, the rest of the time is mine. So normally on an 8 hour shift, I do about 3 hours of work and the rest is homework/internet time.

Nope. My boss has told us point blank that as long as our work gets done that she doesn't care what we do online. The company has blocked e-bay and "adult" sites but other than that, it's all fair game. One former co-worker did have her internet access taken away after many warnings that her work performance had fallen off, which is also why she is now my "former" co-worker.

Now, if she came in tomorrow and said "the internet is now for business purposes only" then I'd (sadly) follow that decree. Not because I'd think it would be stealing but because she is my boss and I do what she tells me.

I used to routinely "lunch" with a DISer but my school has really cracked down on what they consider "inappropriate" use of technology even if it is my duty free 30 minutes.

So now I only get to bother y'all after school. :rotfl2:
