Do you clean up after yourself when you try on clothes? Be honest!

When shopping for clothes, I..

  • Clean up completely, sometimes even putting things where I got them.

  • Make a good effort. I never leave things on the floor.

To everyone that at least puts clothing back on the hangers, thank you, thank you, thank you.
I'll second this

And another thing. If you can't be bothered to hang up your clothes, DO NOT file a complaint about the fact that while someone works the register one or two other people sit on the floor behind the register, where there is a rack of hangers, straightening out all the individual swimsuit pieces and putting them on hangers. Because you do not think before you file that complaint we now have to clog up the dressing room stalls even longer, because there is no way to juggle that many pieces and hangers, while standing. Sure I could remove 2 pieces at a time from the stall, but then they'd never be clean, which you also would complain about (guess what happened yesterday?)

My mother had a clothing store when I was growing up, so I try to be very respectful of the employes when I am in a clothing store. I always put the clothes back on the hangers after I have tried them on.

If someone has been helping me, I give the unwanted clothes back to them, unless I know which rack they came from, in which case I will rehang the clothes. If no one has been helping me, I leave them hanging in the dressing room.

It's really interesting to see all the responses that say "I give them to the attendant or put them on the discard rack." I can only think of ONE place I shop that sometimes has an attendant at the fitting room (Steinmart), but the two department stores where I do 90% of my clothes shopping (Macy's and JCPenney) have no attendant and no rack--at Macy's (my favorite store, where I buy probably 80% of my clothes), I have actually walked out of the store a few times when I can't find anybody to ring up the clothes I want to purchase--forget finding a fitting room attendant, ya can't find a cashier!

The other department stores where I shop occasionally (Dillards, Belks) don't have attendants either. Where in the world do you shop that there are attendants??

For me, Gap and Old Navy have attendants. Filenes, Penny's, Macy's (which Filenes is becoming), and Kohls all have racks.

I ALWAYS put the clothes back on the rack where they belong.
I ALWAYS put the clothes back on the hanger the right way-not INSIDE OUT!
I ALWAYS leave the dressing room clean, because I worked at one of the outlet stores in Wrentham and had to clean up after some PIGS who escaped the pen!

One man left the dressing room and when his 6 year old son said "Dad, you left the clothes in the room", the father kept walking and said out loud for everyone to hear, "they'll clean it up, that's what what they get paid for!"

I said, "oh, don't worry, I'll clean out the dressing room for you!" I felt bad for the little boy! Another customer felt bad for me but I just laughed and said, "he forgot his wife doesn't work here!"

Wow, the people who voted in the poll are all such nice folks!!

When I worked retail, clothes were left on the floor or in a chair about 75 percent of the time.

And as far as swimsuits go...I don't even want to go there. Always wear undergarments when trying those things on!!! Just be glad we threw away swimsuits that were messed up.

You must have waited on my DH. I swear, he has to pick up, unfold, & touch everything! Then, he just puts it back in a wrinkled pile. I get so embarassed & try to go behind him refolding. I know the salespeople are cussing him out when he leaves. :rotfl:

was he unfolding things as I was standing there folding them back up? :rotfl:

I had a group of ladies come in one night as I was folding sweaters, one stood right in front of me and took one out from the bottom, knocking a whole pile over... I just looked at her; her friends realized what she had just done and yelled at her! at least someone was thinking!!!
