Do you change your pillowcase everyday???

it's also recommended for some with horrible allergies -- if you have pollen in your hair -- it gets on the pillowcase etc.

just an interesting tidbit -- I heard once that Jackie O insisted on having all of her bedding changed daily.

My sheets get changed when they don't feel fresh anymore. I'm not a routine person either, so showers happen at night or in the morning.

Thanks to christmas clearance of jersey and flannel sheet sets, there's plenty to change every few days. And the washer is big enough to hold two sets. But I don't bother.

No major skin problems. Break outs only in a blue moon.

We don't change our pillow cases daily. Like others, we wash our faces right before bed. I'm actually more concerned about the oils in my hair getting on my pillow and then my face.

If I go to bed with "oily" hair, maybe because I was too tired to wash it that night or with the intention of washing in the morning, I either change my pillow case the next day or I put a hand towel on my pillow that night and throw it in the laundry the next day.

For those that have skin problems that would benefit from clean pillow cases every night, one solution would be to buy a pack of all cotton hand towels and put a new one on your pillow nightly. That assumes you are not a restless sleeper where the towel winds up on the floor in the morning. Faster and easier to change and much cheaper than buying pillow cases.

I tried it for DD, it didn't help the acne at all. She washes her face at night before bed and in the am as well. I changed the pillowcase 2 x week now. No difference in the skin at all.

I don't change everyday either, but I do throw the pillowcases in about 2x a week (sheets weekly-ish). My DH uses gel in his hair and I don't like how it gets on the cases so i wash them more than the sheets.

I remember in HS my BF had acne problems and her dermatologist told her to get a satin pillow case and she thought it helped. I guess it doesn't absorb oil like cotton does.

I don't change my pillowcase everyday - I change bed linens once a week.

However, I do change my underwear everyday. :thumbsup2

Interesting.. I'll have to mention this to my adult DD because she has horrible outbreaks on her face and nothing has helped - not even prescription meds..:(

I don't have any issues (guess my skin is too "old" to be bothered - LOL), so I change mine twice a week - more often in the summer..:)

you know, half the time I don't even USE pillowcases.... like my entire life I mean... and I'm 28 and I've had like MAYBE 20 pimples, and usually only around my monthly friend comes a haunting...... and my DH has had ONE in the 7 years we've been together and he doesn't use a pillowcase either.... or at least not very often.... LOL and trust me, we don't use a 'regime' on or face or anything, I'm doing good to remember to use my moisturizer LOL and his face is actually pretty oily......

wow we could totally throw a wrench in their thinking

Ok instead of taking one off and putting a new one on daily, Just start the week with 7 and remove 1 daily lol

I toss and turn so much, i use both sides of multiple pillows each night...always looking for the cool "other side"

Change the sheets every Sunday in our house unless someone is sick then their linens get changed everyday. Never had an acne problem even as a teen, DD13 has beautiful skin, DS8 has eczema and DH has occasional breakouts but he had problem skin as a teen.

This is really interesting!

My DH had horrible allergies before we got married. Sneezed a gazillion times every morning. His sheets got washed every other week. Since we got married 15 yrs. ago his allergies are so much better. I wash the sheets every week...but the pillowcases get done every other day because I love the smell of laundry detergent. I never put 2 and 2 together! :thumbsup2

I wash sheets every other week, and pillowcases every week. However, like the pp said, if someone is sick, their pillowcases get changed/washed every day. Also, as soon as they are feeling a little better, I go ahead and wash their sheets too.

Everybody has clear skin, but it makes sense to me to change pillowcases more frequently if someone has acne. I'll keep that in mind if dd starts getting it in the future.

I was just telling DD one of my most favorite things in the world is to take a bubble bath then put on clean PJs and get into a bed made up with freshly laundered linens. Ahh...heaven! :cloud9:

I constantly have breakouts even after the age of 40:eek: I've never heard of this before. I change our sheets once a week, but I would try changing my pillowcase daily if it would clear up my breakouts, I'll give it a try! Thanks OP for bringing this topic up! :thumbsup2
