We went "camping" for the first time this weekend.....well, not really. We just went to visit friends of ours who were camping at a KOA not too far from where we live, so we went to spend the day with them. It was sooooo much fun! They have a 22 ft trailer & it was just perfect for them (but a bit small when the 4 of us showed up) but we spent all day outdoors anyway. I don't know if I would have enjoyed sleeping there (the beds don't look comfy in their trailer & the bathroom was sooooo small that I'm sure my hips would have blown off one of their walls if I used their commode! :teeth: ) Anyway, all in all, we had a fun time & I just wondered how many campers are out there? Also, do you have a trailer, if so, how large, or do you do tent camping (kill me first please!)

I told my DH that I would consider doing a sleep over camping trip if I had one of those huge long trailers & he said he'd also consider it if we could have a satelite dish on top of it!!

We camp several times a year. Obviously we love it. We have a tent but my parents have two pop up campers that we can use whenever we want. I recommend borrowing a tent or renting a camper until you find out that you really enjoy camping. We have a fairly large group of friends that camp together at least once a year. It's a lot of fun and very relaxing.

Love camping-and if you can't fit it in a back pack or pack in on a horse, we don't take it! You would be surprised how relaxing no phone, no TV, no computer, no traffic and no air pollution can be.

yep and we l;ove it!
we "acr camp" most of the time too with young 3 kids its a little hard to pack it all up but we love to go to the campsites and spend the weekend!

Not if my LIFE depended on it...:(

We sure do! In 1998 (when the boys were 2 and 4) we bought a Coleman pop up camper. This year we traded it in for a 25 ft Outback travel trailer. We have a bathroom! :Pinkbounc I get choked up just thinking about it ;) .

Seriously, we love camping. We usually go to campgrounds within a couple hours drive from home, but we've also camped in Maine, Williamsburg and Ontario. Hopefully we'll do Cape Cod next summer. One of these days, when we can all take two weeks off, we'll head down to Ft. Wilderness. We've stayed there in my in-laws motorhome, and it's the best.

We've stayed at a Motel 6 - About as close as it gets for us. ;) Actually sleeping outside in the woods might have been better! :teeth:

Yep! We have a 23' Prowler.... we have a bathroom with a TUB! We believe camping should be as easy and comfortable as possible..... We are going for 4 nights over Labor Day...... Can't wait!!

We tent camp about 3 weekends of the year and LOVE it. I wish we could find the time to go more often. The trick is learning the fine art of packing in an organized and efficient manner.

It took me a few years to really fine-tune it (not overpack, not underpack). I have master lists to keep it easy (1 for equipment, 1 for food, drinks)and a large plastic box that most of the gear stays in. Also, we have a tent for myself and DH and another large 2 room tent for the kids (9,14 and 16). We also have an extra tent if the kids want to bring along a friend or 2. From start to finish, it takes us 1 hour to get everything unloaded and set up camp (everyone has specific tasks hey do). It takes about 1 1/2 hrs to break camp.

I love tent camping and have zero interest in buying a pop-up. It's not that I have anything against them, but I really don't have any reason to want one.

Love to go camping. We also camp several times a year. We have a 01, 36' Signature fifth wheel with 3 Slides. All the comforts of home camping for us, we like our washer and dryer and bathtub, fridge, satellite, etc. Went tent camping last year,On a four wheeler run, the raccoons tore a hole in the tent trying to get in. NO MORE TENT CAMPING FOR US.. LOL
We'll stick to the hard sided raccoon proof, comfy, whimpy camping.:p

My idea of "camping" would be staying at a Sheraton or Marriott overnight but I could consider it if I had the same as PenskeSTH1! No problem!! But still, what are those beds made of? They look/feel so uncomfortable. Are they different depending what type of RV you have?

Forget the tent camping thing! That would not be something I'd find enjoyable, at all! I am in "awe" of you that do tent camp! Takes a special person to be able to do that in my opinion!

<font color=navy>We tent camp when we can. The least number of nights was 3, and we've stayed up to two weeks in the Sierras. We have a 2-room tent that sleeps 6, and a 3-room tent that sleeps 10 (I like my space :) ).

We have a 26' Jayco Eagle fifth wheel that we really enjoy. This has been our first summer with it and we've discovered that this is something DH and I can do together and REALLY enjoy ourselves. We have all the comforts of home (TV, VCR, Fridge, Oven, Stove, Microwave, Full bath, private bedroom, heat and air conditioning) and take advantage of all of them.

We spend time biking, walking, sitting by the campfire, reading (me), fishing (him), and...the BEST part, we can take our dogs along for the fun. Camping has become a welcome weekend vacation from the stresses of life! ;)

OMG, Camping is the best! My birth father used to take us when we were little. He had a Trailer with indoor plumbing so to speak. When I was in my 20's my friends would take bets to see if I could last the weekend in a tent as I was a "Princess Camper".

Well we tent it (18x11) perfect size for 4. I also have both versions of equipment (with water & electric and without).
We actually just replaced our tent that we bought when my daughter was 3 she's now 11.

I can't wait until next summer.

We have a 35' Citation and we love it. This was our first summer with it and we had a great time. Like others have said, all the comforts of home. We are keeping it in Cape May NJ starting next season.

We love camping!! We go camping a few times each summer, sometimes alone, and sometimes with alot of other people. Last year we graduated to a pop-up and I love it!!! I love having all of the equipment packed. We just need to remember food, clothes and, oh yeah, the kids!!;)

We went tent camping for years and really enjoyed it.

We camp now in a pop-up. It's a Jayco 12-UDK. The 12 means that the "box" is 12 feet long. The beds pull out of either end. One is a king-sized, the other queen-sized.

We love it!

We try to camp several times each summer. Several weekends and a week-long trip too.

We usually head off to one of the state parks here in New York. Almost all of them have really great facilities - hot showers, recreational activities and great natural attractions.

As the kids move out and away, we'll likely get back to tent camping. We'd really like to paddle out into the wilderness of the Adirondacks and pitch our tent wherever night-time finds us. :)

Tent campers here. Always with a group of 4 couples and all our (now) teenagers. LOVE it. The kids do too! I once heard a friend of mine describe it to a non-camper like this:

"We are having a party. It lasts all weekend. All my closest friends will be there. There will be good food, good company, and plenty of beer. Oh, BTW, we are sleeping in tents."

I also love Girl Scout camping and will go along with any troop who needs a trained CampCrafter.

And just this past weekend I ran a "Camp-out" at our swim club. There were about 70 people. We camp poolside, have a campfire and I do a continental breakfast in the AM. That's a fun night!

Nope!

I can have good friends, good times, and plenty of beer ;) right here, why go to the mosquito infested wilderness for the same thing?? :)

I must admit that we do live in a rural area.... I might be more tempted to camp if that was not the case.:)

Don't mind cabins but would never sleep in a tent on the ground.
