Do you buy new underwear and socks for vacation?

My wife insists that we all have brand new underwear and socks for vacation. (Especially for WDW trips..don’t ask) She even tries to buy us all new white sneakers…but that’s where I draw (no pun intended) the line. Since I can’t have nice pair of worn in underwear I want my nice worn in sneakers. Ahhhhh!


Here’s a side question: (no not boxers or briefs) it’s who buys the underwear in your house?


PS – for those DIS old timers ..she has not gotten me any yet..and time is running out.

I buy the undergarmets in my house and no I dont buy new ones each trip. I do get a new peice of lingerie..but just for me. I have bought the kids disney underwear in the past and they loved it. I didnt buy that for DH though

Interesting question, but yes I do for everyone in the family! Must have something to do with that motherly advise make sure you have clean underwear on.....

Mommma always said be be sure you have on clean undies in case you are in an accident and someone at the hospital has to take them off you.

Charlie...first off I am glad you DW cares about your underwear...good sign that all is right in your world. Yes I admit I tend to use trips to buy new underwear...seems wrong boarding the Magic in old ones.

I have a friend who does the opposite...being the mother of 7 kids, well, let's say keeping all the butts wiped can be a challenge. She packs her family's oldest underwear and after they have done their duty for the day she throws them away. Don't have to worry about 49 pairs of smelly underwear to pack for the trip home. When she gets home, they all have fresh clean underwear waiting!

Yes, sometimes I do! Don't know what it is about vacation but for some reason I want everything perfect and new. New hair, new clothes/underwear, etc...

I buy the underwear in our family! My DH decided to buy his own a few weeks ago at Marchalls (sp?) during his lunch hour and he bought the wrong size!!! They were huge! That is why I buy them!

ps...one year, I didn't buy him any new uderwear and I let him pack all by himself with no double checking or nagging. Well, when we got to WDW, he forgot to pack UNDERWEAR!! We had to make a special trip to Walmart to buy him new underwear.

Another trip, he forgot his sneakers!!

Now I do double check his packing!!

Well....kinda sorta. If we are going on a long trip and I won't have enough to last me the whole time without washing them, then yes I go out and buy more. BUT, if we are going on a short trip, heck no. I want my comfy already worn ones thank you very much. Have your wife call me Charlie - I'll set her straight!!!!!

We always buy new socks, underwear and sneakers for vacation. I buy my own and my husband buys his (he's particular about the kind he wants).

A better question might be who throws away the old underwear in your house? I say once it has even the tiniest hole in it that doesn't belong there, it goes in the trash.

Of course, Charlie! Of course! New undies all around, new socks just for my mom 'cause she always seems to need them , no new sneakers for anyone, maybe some new Tivas if needed, but always a couple of new outfits all around! I'm the undie buyer for vacations!

But let me clarify one thing - we don't have kids yet. I don't guess it's as important if a kid's clothes have holes in them.

Yep, I do it for every trip that is longer than a weekend. Not sure why I do it anymore, but I do I might buy socks, but I hate socks and shoes really, so I usually try to bring shoes where socks will not be required.

This is a little OT, but it made me smile.
14 years ago I took my DAD, and my two nephews on the Autotrain to Florida. Up to that point in his life my DAD had never been to WDW, actually had never been anywhere. He was 70 years old, so my MOM gave him brand new underwear to wear, and take with him.
Poor Dad, he must have had an allergic reaction to the new UW.
For the rest of the trip, PopPop had underwear rash and was squerming alot... We all laughed and thought it was funny, but I am sure he did not.
(DAD died this year at the age of 84...and he never went to WDW again.....)

I used to buy everyone new underwear and new socks each trip, normally we had new shoes too. However, since we are going more often I bought new underwear for our trip in March, but did not buy any for May as it was still pretty new.I do not need any for the Sept. For this trip I will get DH some new underwear and us both new socks...Socks are thicker and better when new so we always get them, easier on the feet.

I have to sneak my husband's underware when they get to that point or I hit the addage that they make great rags. (clean of course)

I usually try to buy new underwear (sometimes new socks too) for our trips. I'm just paranoid that TSA is going to open our bags up in front of everyone & someone's old underwear will come flying out of the bag so everyone in the terminal can see them. Even though that probably won't happen, especially since I bought those packing cubes, I guess I'm paranoid 'bout my panties.

I'm usually the one who buys all the underwear for everyone. DH could care less. He'll wear his underwear until they have holes. When they're a little too holey, I rip them so he can't wear them anymore without a cheek or two hanging out.

Actually, I want the most comfy undies that I have to make the journey with me...so I'll usually take the older, softer ones that I know won't ride up, so I won't be digging for gold all day. Ha ha ha.

I buy my underwear, Clint buys his own, and we throw our own away...

I'm waiting on PopDaddy to say, "Who needs underwear?"
