Do you buy new clothes for your vacations?

It seems like every time we go somewhere I "need" something. This year our trip, Disney and beach, will be fifteen nights, which is the length of all our vacations when I was a child, but the longest we have ever been away at one time since our marriage. I KNOW I dont have sixteen pairs of shorts that fit--actually need seventeen or eighteen because of what to wear the day or two before we leave. I will have to count my summer clothes and make sure I have enough. I may go down short a shirt or two and plan to buy a couple of tshirts there. Its been a long time since I packed that many days worth of clothes.

I buy new clothes for every vacation EXPECT Disney or any other theme park. Disney is a huge theme park. There is no way I am going to spend money on nice, expensive items just to have someone else spill something on my outfit. I have had too many people bump into me over the years and there is no way I would wear new clothes to Disney.

When we go on vacation to other places, I buy new underwear, socks, outfits, shoes, make - up and more. :goodvibes Going on a cruise next spring and I am already thinking about the clothes I need to purchase. :beach:

Yes, We buy new clothes just got done doing my final shopping tonight. 2 1/2 hours. I think we are all set to pack and leave Friday!!:cool1:

Yes as kids, my brother and I'd only get new clothes for school and new clothes for our vacation.

I typically only buy DH and I a large amount of new clothes when we go OOT. And since he missed the last vacation we took, some of his shorts are from a Vegas trip from 5 years ago.

SInce I have 2 kids though, priorties are different this time. DS has all new nice short and polos from the mall for night and Toy Story ect shirts and playsets for days. DD has all cute sundresses and I had a friend make her some cute boutique style Minnie Mouse dresses. DH and I got a lot of basics from Old Navy, but a lot was from consingmet shops though. New to us, but name brand. Now that I am a mommy, it is more important that my kids are dressed super cute. As long as my clothes are flattering and in good shape, the label means a lot less.

I like to buy clothes for our vacations. This year I bought a bunch of Disney Store t-shirts when they had them for $5.00! My hubbie hates to buy souveniers, especially the $30 t-shirts, so this year I bought a few WDW t-shirts on ebay. They are super cute and very nice gently worn tees. Even my middle son who gets the least excited about clothes likes his tye die Tower of Terror t-shirt! Now we are all set! Is it too early to pack???????????:yay::laughing:

When ever we go on big vacations we do!!!! So being this is going to be our first trip to WDW you better believe that we are all going to be sporting new outfits :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. With that you should see my closet the bags are piled high and we dont leave until September:rotfl2:

Yeah, I got to lay off on the shopping too so that I have plenty of money to shop a Disney:laughing::laughing::laughing:
I've already packed a lot of it. Geez I'm ready to go and still have 72 days:scared1:

We went last year and literally bought all new summer stuff for all four of us. (But we all really needed some decent shorts, t-shirts and tank tops) I always buy new underwear, bras and socks before we travel anyway, then I toss out any that are worn out or have holes in them. It's my time to purge the closets. This summer we are going to Myrtle Beach and the only new stuff that I'm planning on buying is a swimsuit or two and cover-up's for DD.

I usually buy everyone a few new pieces to mix and match with things we already have.

We often end up buying before a vacation, but it is because we all hate to shop and NEED clothes. We usually shop once for summer/spring and take into account where we'll be vacationing when we do so.

I do find that we need more clothes that are "suitable" for a week on vacation than we do at home. Here, if we need something for a certain level of dress and it's already dirty, we can throw it in the wash. That said, I can't imagine trying to have enough clothes to make it through two weeks without doing any laundry. I'd much rather have to do laundry once during a vacation than spend all that time shopping!

I am buying new clothes for DD and I... but none of our summer clothes fit us! DD got bigger, and I got smaller. (I lost about 15+lbs!) DH usually does his t-shirt shopping in the tattooine traders gift shop! :darth::yoda::chewy:

I don't buy everything new but I hate to pack a bunch of clothes so I pack a little and then buy when I'm on vacation.

Idont normally for me but i have lost 30ibs so want to show it off with tighter clothing. My daughter has lots of outfits made .The boys maybe a few things if needed.:cool1::cool1:

Congrats!! How did you do it? I'm down a little over 15lbs, but I'm getting stuck!

I always have to buy a few new things for vacations...it's part of the fun, right? Since we are going in November I'm hoping to hit the clearance racks at the end of the summer. I'm sure my then 10 month old will need all different clothes than what he will wear in the summer, and hopefully the 3 year old will be able to wear a mix between this summer and next summer....

I also already have a disney t-shirt in the "bin" for my daughter, saw one for only $5 and figured I would plan ahead!

I guess I kinda do get some new stuff, lol, but not much, I go through what we've got and then if anybody needs any 'fill in' pieces I'll get them for the trip. My older DS and DH wouldnt wear a themed shirt if I paid them, so that idea is out, lol. I'm going to try and at least have us color coordinated this year :)

My wife and I have been on weight watchers. I've lost 100lbs and she has lost over 60. So, we did buy some new clothes. Mostly shorts. We usually buy quite a few shirts when we are in the parks. My wardrobe for work is almost exclusively Disney polo shirts. So, I will take some of the very old shirts from the small sizes in my closet, and plan to buy while we are down there.

Shoes are the big ones for us. We make sure we have one or two good pairs of sandals, and at least one good pair of walking shoes that look good enough to wear to a nice, but not formal, dinner.

Congratulations to you and your wife on the weight loss! That's awesome!!!:woohoo::yay::woohoo:

My sis and I buy new shirts for our sons and nephews. The two younger ones have matching ones and then the three older ones have matching ones. Easier to spot in the park, especially when you are doing the head count to make sure your whole group is still intact.

i get some new stuff, but mostly wear my own favorites from home. we went on-line to the disney outlet and got some character t-shirts for 5 bux each, and dh got dd a new belle gown as a surprise prezzie.

one thing i'd recommend is NOT to wear brand-new shoes to the parks. if you get new shoes, wear them around the house for a day or so first, to break them in and get used to them. new shoes + miles of walking= blisters!

i have also lost a ton of weight in the past few months (from a sz 14 to a sz 10!) and have some new stuff to show off my new body, but i didn't buy the new clothes for our trip....i just needed clothes that fit!!

leaving in 2 days!! PACKING NOW!!!
evi:cool1:

::yes:: Guilty! It goes hand in hand w/ planning.

New t's and shoes are always a given for us; this year, we also added rash guards since we're snorkeling.
