Perhaps it's because that's what my family did when I grew up and now in turn I do it with my family but just about every trip we go on we buy new things. Now, not every single item is new - somethings are if we still can fit or are in good condition from the previous year are certainly packed and used but for us part of going on a trip is shopping for things to wear on that trip. We buy new clothes for day time, evenings if there is a special place we're dining at and new shoes too.

For our trip coming up soon we all have lots of new things and on our non-park days we even have outfits for day and outfits for dinner. Are we the only ones to do this anymore - dress differently (not necessarily all fancy) for dinner. For instance we're going to BB during the day and have dinner ADR's for 'Ohana for that same evening and we all have island inspired outfits. Other dinners on non-park days will also mean we change clothes for them too.

Yep, I do...I try not too but usually I can't help it and get excited and go shopping!!

I'm just the opposite, I try not to take new clothes to WDW. We look presentable, but my kids stained enough shirts for me to leave the new ones at home. :lmao:

I always like to get a new souvenier shirt there, too.

We buy new clothes for vacation too! DH and I are taking both new clothes and things that are still in good condition for last summer. Having new things to wear adds to the fun! Our DD18 is newly employed at American Eagle and she has bought herself an entirely new wardrobe with all of AE's cutest summer things so she will be looking like a walking AE billboard:rotfl: This trip we are going to Narcossee's for dinner one evening so we are also taking "dressier" clothes.

I've been trying to lose weight for years, so I've always held off on getting new clothes and my clothes are either raggedy or don't fit (and wouldn't be in style at all even if they did.) So this year I've gone out and bought three new outfits for Disney (in a size smaller than usual :cool1:)

I was showing them to my daughter, and the first thing out of her mouth is, "Mommy, those are huge!!" Then she reaches up, pats my cheek and coos, "Who's got fat legs?":rotfl2: KIDS!!!

Yes we buy special clothes for our trip (I usually get them at the end of summer and put them away for the trip so It doesn't cost that much). We take several picture on vacation and many have been framed and hang around my house. It's worth the investment in new clothes to have a picture that looks good.

we usually buy some Logo shirts from Disney shopping when they go really cheap toward mid-summer. but other than that we don't buy new because we go in September and live in Iowa if we broke out new shorts and T-shirts in September they would likely not fit the kids by the next summer.

Sounds like fun!! I swear, part of the fun of vacation is just preparing for it!

I buy some new, but also take some old. I've had experiences where I bought new clothes, and when I wore them on vacation, they weren't quite as comfy as my old clothes and I wasn't too happy in them. There's nothing like your old ratty shorts and sweatshirts sometimes!!!:thumbsup2

We did buy a lot of new clothes for this trip. I got matching Disney shirts, new Crocs, and new socks for us. New sunglasses for me! :cool1:

Yes we do!! I have gone a bit overboard lately. :rolleyes1 No more shopping for me!!! Until Disney World that is...

When ever we go on big vacations we do!!!! So being this is going to be our first trip to WDW you better believe that we are all going to be sporting new outfits :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. With that you should see my closet the bags are piled high and we dont leave until September:rotfl2:

Yep, I do...I try not too but usually I can't help it and get excited and go shopping!!

Spoiled! :lmao:

Yes, I always like to buy a new dress to throw on for the pool, maybe a new pair of shorts or capris. I make the kids a few tees each trip, too.

We usually get new clothes for our vacations too. It just adds to the excitement knowing that when you buy it you won't wear it until WDW. makes the time pass quicker.

I buy a few things but mostly not. I spend enough all year round buying clothes and shoes ( my vice) so by the time vacation rolls around I generally still have a closet full of things that have not yet been worn.I do buy some new things for my 5 yr old since she seems to grow out of stuff so fast

I always get new stuff for vacation. I have a nearly 2 year old, so I need to buy him summer clothes anyway. I like to have a few new tops for myself also- I usually don't buy too much in the way of bottoms unless my size changes. This year we have a couple things "themed"- we have coordinating Mickey shirts for one day. We will be going to Animal Kingdom on Mother's Day, so DH has his "i <3 Hot moms" shirt, and DS has a shirt with a giraffe that says "wild for Mommy."

we do! I love new vacation clothes :yay::woohoo:we usally do these that go with where ever we are headed...I am really considering trying the whole iron on thing so that we can all have matching shirts at Disney...

My mom would do it for us when we went because we live in the North and typically went to Disney in the spring. So I guess it always made sense in addition to adding to the excitement. I feel like shopping is part of the mental preparation :)

I keep telling myself that since we're going in September this year, my 2 year old will already have an entire summer wardrobe but I'm sure we'll pick up a few things.

And I always change my clothes for dinner at Disney. When we leave in the morning we're in shorts and tank tops and I would feel totally naked wearing that to dinner and most likely get a little chilly. I like to change into a short sleeved shirt, capris and a light cardigan for the nighttime.

I don't buy new just because we're going on vacation but because a lot of our vacations are winter trips to tropical or sub-tropical destinations, I usually end up picking up a few things to deal with the difference in weather. Particularly for the kids, who often outgrow summer clothes between the end of warm weather here and our travel dates.

For Disney, I do tend to buy or make extra character tees and other themed clothes. And now, with 2 girls, I'm going to be making a lot of matching outfits for them for our character meals and special events. :)

LAst year everything DD wore was something I made for the trip, and we brought back 2 outfits tyhat didn't get worn. I have been bitten by the sewing bug and I love doing it. That and I can make it a whole lot cheaper than I can have it made. I started sewing b/c i refuse to pay upwards of $100 for ONE custom outfit!
