I am going to the beach tomorrow with my mom and in the process of planning, I realized that I did not want to take my real wedding and engagement ring for fear of losing the set in the water. Luckily my local Macy's was having their fourth of July sale and I was able to pick up a CZ and Sterling Silver set for under $30. Now I will say up close they do look fake, but a really good fake. I was not comfortable not wearing a ring, but that is me personally.

On my previous Disney trips, I have worn my real jewelry, but now I am considering taking my fake set with me. I was just wondering if anyone else is uncomfortable with taking their real jewelry with them?

I take my wedding ring but that's it for the real stuff. I should add my wedding ring is a wide platinum band with small diamonds sort of inlaid in all the way around. If I had a large diamond type engagement ring, I might not wear that for fear of catching it on something on a ride. My band is pretty simple.

Now I do have other stuff like a diamond ring I wear on my other hand that I do not take, nor do I take any of my nicer necklaces or earrings.

If I were you, I'd take the fake thing, it sounds very nice!

I wear my real rings to WDW when I go. They are VERY tight so I don't have to worry about them falling off. I wear them all the time and don't ever take them off on a trip, so I don't have to worry about losing them or forgetting them in the room either. The setting is very secure too, so no worries about loose stones. :)

But those are the only real pieces I bring with me. I wear Mickey Mouse or Tinkerbell earrings on a trip, so if I happened to lose one I could buy a new pair. :rolleyes1

If you're worried about wearing the real things, then by all means wear a fake set! :goodvibes

I guess it would depend on how much it's worth, if it's insured, and if you have had it inspected lately. I always wear mine but I do have it inspected every 6 months or so and it's insured.

I wear my engagement ring/wedding band set but it is also insured and the large main stone is in an extremely secure setting that is often inspected. I leave my good diamond necklace at home and just bring some homemade necklaces if I want to dress up.

I've never had a ring fall off a finger but bracelets jump off my wrists like you wouldn't believe. I never wear any bracelets at Disney.

I lock all my good pieces (wedding set, other diamond rings, earrings) in the safety deposit box at the bank before we travel. I have a plain gold band I wear. I just worry about misplacing them - I am a constanst "checker" and if I lock them up I don't worry.

Besides my wedding ring and diamond earings (top hole of my ears), I have special "Disney" jewerly I wear. I have a necklace, earings, watch, toe ring, ankle bracelet that I wear. I only bring them out when I go to Disney so they are special for just Disney vacations.

Just a thought, but a DF lost her diamond engagement ring recently when her house was broken in to. If it had been on her finger she would still have it.

I rarely take any "real" jewelry on vacation, unless I know I'm going somewhere fancy that I need to dress up for (which totally never happens). I only have, like, five pieces of real jewelry anyway, so I normally just wear my wedding band and carry some earrings and a necklace or two. I wear diamond earrings everyday (two holes in each ear) and I'll normally leave those at home, also. I'll lock up anything I do take, because I never wear anything at pools or waterparks.

I just bring the wedding band I used when I was pregnant.
Everything else goes into a safety deposit box.

It honestly has never occurred to me *not* to wear my real jewelry. My rings aren't super expensive, but even if they were worth $100K, I'd still wear my real jewelry if it's something I always wear. I guess it would be different if I wasn't in the habit of always wearing it.

I have never wear my real jewerly to WDW. Last year my 14 year old DD took her favorite silver braclet. It was lost. We have no idea what happened to it.:confused3. Almost a year later and she is still upset.

I have a 14k gold ring with CZ for my subsitute wedding ring. I work in a bank so I wear the fake at work too! Just in case we are robbed they will never get my real ring. It is sort of funny the number of people that comment about how beautiful my fake ring is.

i wear my everyday jewelry (which is also my "real" jewelry) to wdw just like i wear it everywhere i go at home... my other good stuff is stowed away 'cause i rarely have cause to wear it (lately)... i do take my watch and rings off at night and always loop my rings thru my watchband and then buckle the watchband back up... whether i am home or away, it's my habit and it works for me :)

Never occured to me not to wear it - I have only removed my wedding ring 3 times (the 3 times I had children and my fingers were huge).

Mine is well fitting though.

If you are more comfortable leaving it at home - do so - it will put your mind at ease.

i always wear my wedding ring and a pair of diamond studs when talking about the real stuff. i've worn them swimming, working, etc... never had a problem. i always wear my wedding ring so that's a given. i wear the diamond studs because they have a twist on back and the color is neutral to match anything i wear. i wear an inexpensive watch that is neutral again so it matches whatever i'm wearing. i leave everything else at home. i don't know why you'd feel the need to not wear your wedding ring/engagement ring unless it's ill fitting. just keep it on... i.e., don't leave it in your room, purse etc...

I always wear my real stuff. My rings fit well and have never fallen off. I have a diamond wedding band and an antique pearl and mine-cut diamond engagement. (The diamond represents the love in a marriage; the pearl represents the tears.) I've traveled with them all over the world without any problems. I also wear a solitaire diamond around my neck, but I never take it off, so I'm not likely to lose it unless the chain breaks. As PPs have said, it helps to make sure everything is insured.

I too wear my real wedding set when on vacation, and mine also fits very snuggly so no worries there. My set is also insured so we'd be covered (at least financially though not emotionally) if anything happened.

If we go to FL when it is hot, I have a larger wedding band that we bought just for hot weather. My fingers tend to swell if I am there in the warmer months. If we go in the winter, I wear my usual wedding rings.
