never use it. I bring my DV camcorder all the time and then never use it. I get home from vacation with like 30 minutes of tape and wish I tapped more. I say next time I'll tape more but never do. Does anyone else do this?

The first trip I used it all the time, the second it petered out towards the end and next trip we wont be taking it at all.

We have plenty of footage now & as it is such a pain to carry around we decided just to go for stills this trip.

we do that we just get fed up of carrying it so dont use it

We just got back from our first trip with our new camcorder. (Trip Report can be found in [THREAD=1017677]this thread[/THREAD]. The photos and some of the video can be found on my personal website, and some additional photos can be found in my DIS photo gallery.) It captures such wonderful memories that I cannot imagine visiting WDW and not taking it, as least when we're taking the children. It's smaller than a typical SLR still photograph camera, and very very light.

We used to do that all the time. Now we don't even bring it. The first time DH went along with us to WDW he brought along the camera and taped everything and I mean EVERYTHING. We have 20 minutes of a brick on the castle wall. We have the balloon man and I think a zoom in on every balloon he was carrying. We have a squirrel (and FYI Disney squirrels don't look any different than our squirrels, just happier!) and boy do we have a lot of views of peoples' feet. (He forgot to turn off the camera quite often.) Nah, we don't take it anymore.

I used to but now I like to experience it rather then film it. I take pictures with my digital but I hate taking movies. As the old wise Indian said we don't need pictures we have memories.

We've only been twice but the first trip we taped everything. The second trip we took it but only used it a couple of times. I'm too afraid that I'm going to miss a perfect moment if I DON'T take it. So, I keep it handy just in case. We have a new digital camera now that has video on it, so I may use it most of the time. Our next trip will be my mom's first trip ever, so I know I will be using it some to get her reactions. I can't wait!!

Native Americans used to spend lots of time remembering and recounting. We don't. We forget. We take videos! :rotfl2:

Seriously, I think the key is learning that you don't need to put too much attention into the camera if you don't want to, and you'll still get great video (at leas I did). Much of the time, I just semi-unconciously pointed it in the direction I was looking, and got great video.

We took more video when the kids were little. I guess we'll take some video on the next trip, but we sure won't be taking it all day every day.:earsboy:

Oh no, we take it all the time with us, DH is in charge of the taping, we taped everything, parades, character meals, shows, fireworks, when the kids are in line for an autograph and taking pictures with characters, we loved watching the videos at home.
