Do You Book Standard View or Boardwalk View?

Ever since they gave Boardwalk view its own catagory I can't help but book it. I go in with every intention of booking standard view (to save points) and I end up with Boardwalk view. I now have it on my next 3 trips!!

What about you? Do you book standard or is the Boardwalk view too tempting to pass up?:hyper:

Boardwalk view, I love seing Spaceship Earth from my balcony, and watching the entertainment on the Boardwalk in the evening. Also, it's great to keep an eye out for when the Friendship will be docking, then head downstairs to catch it!

I know what you mean, with the now guaranteed boardwalk view villas, it is a dilemma for many, at booking, if the coveted boardwalk view is available. So now what I do is both. I will ask what is available. If only preferred view is available and they have a boardwalk view villa, I grab it faster than a NY minute! But if there are standard view villas available then I weigh the trip: how long is the trip, are we there for a special occasion, what size villa are we getting, etc.
I love the fact that BWV now has guaranteed boardwalk views, what a huge plus for BWV owners! The only room views at WDW that I have ever had that can even begin to compete with a boardwalk view is a water view at YC, a safari view at AKL and a MK view room at one of the MK resorts. Considering the pt difference for a boardwalk view villa--if you can get it-- vs a standard view villa is very little per night. I personally think they are well worth it!
One thing to note though, is for parties that like to go to bed or have children that go to bed before 10-11 PM; they may hear some boardwalk activity and Illumination fireworks/music with the balcony doors closed and will definitly hear it with the balcony doors open. After 11 PM, BWV is usually very quiet. Early morning to late afternoon are also very quiet times for the boardwalk. The activity on the boardwalk is very similiar to that of a real boardwalk: from early evening to about 11 PM the boardwalk comes alive and then it basically is very quiet. Occasionally you will hear a group leaving one of the clubs but it is not a regular happening at all. This is Disney after all--not the real Atlantic City LOL!!

Had it once... booked it again... Will book it any time it is availible.

Although I loved our Luna pool room view too with ToT in the background... There is nothing like people watching from above!

We have preferred for this coming trip. Since it's our first trip 'home' I'm sure that I'll be happy with whatever the view is!!! Now, for the second trip.....well, we'll see what happens.

I'm in the same dilemma. I booked preferred view with a boardwalk view request at exactly 11 months for my first trip in December 2000. Didn't get it, got quiet pool. After that I decided to save points and book standard view. The standard views we had the next 3 years were great, had a view of Illuminations. But when boardwalk view was guaranteed, I had to go for it for this December.

We always book standard view. The only time we stayed preferred, overlooking the quiet pool, was our first trip, and that was booked at 4 months out.

I honestly don't have any desire to have a Boardwalk view. I'll be happy to leave them for the rest of you.

In May I booked standard view. In November I booked Boardwalk view. Can't wait to enjoy them both. But if points were never a consideration I would probably always try for the Boardwalk view.

Always select the stardard view when at BWV! This helps extend on vacation!

Always--

a boardwalk view! No discussion about it! I will borrow points to get it, too! Otherwise I will stay at OKW where the points are less, the view is pretty good, and the rooms and balconies are larger(oh, yes--there is a full-sized washer and dryer). :wave2:

We normally book standard, but this last trip we couldnt' get it and took the BW view which was the pool view in the end. It was expensive in the points dept. but it was a beautiful view and we all enjoyed it very much! Points well spent for us once in awhile.

We take the standard view whenever we can get it. Twice I have had prefered view, once when we first bought points and we had a quiet pool view and this past Oct when I booked late. DD and I got a Luna view from a studio. We were in the BWI once and looked out over the courtyard lawn -- where the x-mas tree was, that was neat.

We are on the wait list for a standard view for our upcoming Aug trip - doubt we will get it. The view isn't a big deal to me -- I like the points!

I have loved every view I have had at BWV. We had a standard view twice, once overlooking the front drive up area (with a fantastic view of Illuminations) and once way down the end across from Swan/Dolphin. It is definately a tough call for me!

I am in the process of booking my BW view right now for next March, and the CM I spoke to told me that even though there are more standard views then BW views, the standard views go the fastest.

I am sure I will book standard view again in the future, but right now I cannot wait for the BW view!!

When we first bought DVc, my brother did all the reservations, always Boardwalk view, Although I guess those rooms are now considered a courtyard or preferred view, (the rooms over Wyland) I loved it at holiday time it was great to sit out and look at the tree in the courtyard. However the horns on the launches drove me nuts. My kids are very light sleepers and everytime it went off, They woke up.;) So now we always stay standard view. I actually for those reasons prefer it.

My first time at the BWV, I had a standard view. Upcoming trip I booked a preferred view but am on a waitlist for Boardwalk view. I'll have Pool view if I can't get Boardwalk View.

Cross your fingers for us!!!

I just called, Monday, to switch from BCV to BWV standard view. I could only get standard for three of our five nights, so wait listing for the first two nights. Our last trip, we had preferred and our view, off our balcany, was the canal with a nice big tree blocking it! I would rather save the points and go with standard.

Standard has been our preference as it has allowed us to stretch our points. Having a Grand Gathering this December and rented out 4 standard studios and 1 standard 2 bedroom. Without the point structure for standards we would not have been able to have so many of our family enjoy the beauty of WDW at Christmas time.

We always book standard view-I am not tempted at all by the Boartdwalk view-it would be nice, but I'm just not one who cares what our view is.:D

I love the Boardwalk view rooms. I can understand that the view does not make a difference to everyone, but I love having a balcony with a great view.
