Do you book more TS meals than allotted in your plan?

This was our first time using the DDP and boy, was it hard to stay within the allotted credits. We are doing a couple character breakfasts and the HDDR. We decided to keep them all and just pay OOP for the cheapest meals.

Yeah, I'm predicting the same issue for us.

I normally have one or two meals I pay out of pocket for. This year with free dining I updated to the Deluxe Dining Plan which was still bargain and I get three table service credits and two snacks a day The table service on the DDP also includes an appetizer which the regular dining plan does not. I don't know if the cost woudl be worth it if did not get the free dining but I am looking forward to going some Signature Restaurants and the Candle Light processional and not have to worry about running out of credits. I know some people think it is too much food but I'm Italian and we love to eat.

If you don't mind me asking, how much does it cost per person per day to upgrade to the deluxe plan? That would give us 24 credits each (WOW!) but we have 13 TS meals planned, 1 of those being a signature. And there are a few other signatures I would like to do, but we don't really want to use 2 credits on them.

The last two times on the ddp we have not. But this time I'm guessing we will have at least one extra TS meal per person. We'll either just do dessert or appetizers at a restaurant and pay oop (this way we still get to enjoy the atmosphere and entertainment) or just choose to pay oop based on when someone chooses to order something less expensive on the menu like a burger or maybe we'll share a couple of meals. This time around I now know that you can share to help extend credits and not everyone has to use a TS credit but can opt to pay oop if someone doesn't order something too expensive.

Does anyone know if they will allow you to share a TS meal if paying with the dining plan?

If your party is on the DDP and you want to share a meal, you may. So far, you cannot share with someone not on the plan. WE are waiting to see how te changes to the plan are implemented, so maybe the restrictions may disappear.

I plan to do two TS meals more than I'm getting. One is a The Wave breakfast because I think it's a better value OOP and the other is Artist Point for the same reason. Also, I hear so many good things about it that I have to give it a chance, especially since I'll be staying at WL.

:thumbsup2Thanks. All the kids will be on the Adult plan and I don't know if they will always want a big meal. I had told myself that I would not do any 2TC meals but this opens up some more possibilities. :woohoo:

Always! We have 8 credits and 10 meals planned so far (can't make ADRs until Jan). We always pay for a meal or two OOP.

Last year we didn't have any extra TS meals, but this year I changed up our plans some after making my original ADRs and ended up adding HDDR. Since that's 2 credits, we're now using 1 too many. We'll likely just pay out of pocket for Sci-Fi, since everything there is inexpensive.

We have an extra table service booked for our Dec. trip simply because we want to have breakfast at Boma before we head home. Our farewell meal!

Yep, always have at least 2-3 over my allotment. I just always have to remind myself which ones we will pay OOP.
(always the cheapest ones like breakfast or the Plaza @ MK)

I'm curious to know what others do while staying at a Disney Resort. As you know, the dining plan allows for one TS meal, one QS meal and a snack per day. Do you book more than one TS meal per day? I'm thinking of doing so, just do our DDs can have a spot to sit and take a break while eating. Thoughts?

We do a TS dinner every night along with 2 or 3 breakfasts. We use our credits for dinner and then any breakfasts we add, we pay OOP for as those are generally cheaper than dinner.
