Well maybe after you read this, you will.

Let me start by telling you that I have two kids. DS is 3 and DD is 1. My DD is just starting to walk and climb. We live in a 2 story house and the stairs that lead to the 2nd floor are long - 17 steps and it's a pretty steep trek. My DS was napping in the family room and I was upstairs folding laundry. DH was playing with DD. She was practicing walking with her walker toy and playing peek-a-boo with Daddy. Then she crawled over to the steps (DH right behind her) and he helped her climb up the steps. She reached the top with his help and got so excited that she saw me up there. We played for a bit, then DH took her back downstairs so that I could finish with the laundry.

I could hear them in the living room playing peek-a-boo and the like, then it got quiet. I figured that both DH and DD had either gone into the family room or that they had fallen asleep - DD loves to sleep on her daddy.

Well, to my surprise, I hear a cute, little "hi!" and I look up and see DD's face at the top of the stairs. I called to my DH, as I was sure he was right behind her again. Boy oh boy, was I wrong! DH had dozed off and DD took it upon herself to climb ALL 17 STEPS ALONE!!!

Now mind you, we have hard ceramic tile in the foyer (not our choice - it was there when we moved in) and you can just imagine the worst case scenario.

I grabbed DD and pulled her close to me and said "Mommy does not ever want you to do that again!" My heart was pounding in my chest and I was shaking all over. DH was SO distraught and in shock that DD would climb the steps alone. He even was telling me how she was so wobbly even with him helping her.

That is why I believe in guardian angels. I mean, SOMEONE was watching over our DD to see that she made it safely to the top of the stairs! I am truly convinced of this. I don't want to even think about what 'could have' happened - it's too heartwrenching.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this story because it could have turned into one of those "You don't think it could happen to you" stories we see on Oprah and the like.

Now we have a gate secured at the bottom and top of those steps.

And we have one little dare-devil of a child that will make me gray before I'm 35!!!

Absolutely....

About a year ago I was stopped at a red light at the entrance of my office building. The entrance sits on a curve so you cannot see to the left or right without practically being in the road. Anyway, the light turned green and I found myself unable to move... literally, I couldn't make myself go. I could see the light change and hear the car behind me beep but I couldn't move. A few seconds later a full size pickup truck ran the red light at full speed (55 mph although I'm sure he was going much faster  ) and if I had gone, there is no question that I would have been killed instantly.

Not sure if it was a guardian angel or my father who died when I was 4... maybe it was both. I like to think so :goodvibes

I believe my niece (RIP) watches over my son, who was born shortly before she passed. Now DS has some issues but in the end no matter what everything seems to work out for him. And I always think "thanks Keelin".

Yes, I believe it was my grandmother watching over my DD when this happened. My DD's name is Erika and she was named for my grandmother - so I truly believe that Grandma Ethel is Erika's guardian angel. :)

I don't believe in guardian angels but I do believe in guardian spirits.

I believe that we are divided into 2 worlds, the physical world and the spirit world. Often times the spirit world and the physical world intermingle and that's when we see ghosts, etc, and sometimes the spirits that inhabit the spirit world acts as our guardians or conversly bad spirits become our enemy.

I couldn't have said it better myself - and I totally agree with you!

Absolutely!!! A few years ago, we were traveling on a 2 way highway. A truck drove across the lanes of the highway (crossing the road) and didn't leave enough room for the semi heading in our direction. The semi clipped the end of the truck and jackknifed. We were just rounding the bend and saw it happen, DH immediately drove off the road to the right. I can still hear the tires of the semi skidding, we saw the grill of the semi go right past our car, the skid marks of the semi go past were our tire marks on the grass began. The semi truck driver got out and was certain his truck had hit our car we WERE THAT CLOSE!!!!!! I am convinced that our guardian angel (I like to think DH's dad) helped push our car out of the way... thanks Dad!!!

Something else happened once. I was driving down the road and looked in my rear view mirror. Very early in the morning with almost no traffic around, and an image of a young woman drifted across the rear view mirror. It was so clear and so real I panicked wondering who was in the backseat???!!!! I parked outside at that time and new that I had done my usual check... I check the backseat and make sure no one is in the car before I lock the doors and drive off. The image was SOOOOO clear and so real, hard to describe. I was so freaked out that I missed a turn off the expressway. I am certain I saw my guardian angel that day and I was supposed to miss that off ramp for a reason.....

Glad to hear your DD made it up ok, how scary it must have been for you. sounds like you have a fantastic DH that loves to play with the kids and you guys work as a team. What a wonderful family! Cherish each other and lock that gate! Your daredevil will challenge you!

Definately!

This summer, DS2 slipped, rolled & fell off our deck at my uncle's house at Lake Sunapee. He dropped about 10-12 feet onto an area beside the deck that was filled with large boulders! I was frozen on the landing screaming (I think everyone on that lake heard me that day). I was sure he was dead or paralyzed. I remember thinking "he's gone." Then I was yelling to family down below "GET HIM!" over and over.

Anyway, my sister was down below and she ran and picked him up. He landed neatly between the large rocks on a small patch of dirt. I didn't move a muscle until I knew he was alive. I just knew I couldn't live the rest of my life seeing what condition he could have been in, if something much worse had happened.

He had a small cut on his shin, and a cut & big goose egg on his forehead. He was moving all his limbs, head, etc. so I knew right away nothing was broken. His forehead did start to swell, spreading to near his eye so we went to the ER. He only had a minor concussion! He suffered some night terrors for a week or so, but that was it.

My DH's Gram passed away unexpectedly at the age of 70 less than 2 months previous to this. I truly believe she was watching over him that day and laid him between those rocks. She loved him to pieces! He was her "little young'un." She was always IMing me, asking the news of the day about him. She may have lived far away from us in FL, but she was closer than alot of family that lives close by.

Sorry, I don't. I'm glad that your DD was OK with her exploration. We had baby gates on both the top and the bottom of the stairs to prevent exactly that kind of thing from happening. We put the bottom gate a couple steps up so my DD could practice. The top gate was drilled into the wall while the bottom gate was one of the plastic pressure gates. You might want to buy one soon to protect your little climber.

Personally yes! on January 8, 2005 my grandmother, RoseMary, past away at work from a massive heart attack, at that time I was 2 months pregnant with my second DD. Occasionally I would find my oldest DD talking to a blank wall in her room in the dark. My 2nd DD was born in August 2005. A few weeks ago I got my pictures back from being developed and I found this one picture with my 2 month old DD and what looked like white transparent arms reaching down for her. I took the picture to my momther's work and without telling her co-workers what I thought of the picture, they all said that it looked like a ghost reaching for DD, and that is exactly what I thought as well. I believe it was my grandma (DD great-grandma) in the picture looking after DD. So yes I believe in gardian angels because I believe my grandma is my DD's gardian angel.

Oh yeah, when 2nd DD was about 1 week old, I got up at 2 am with her to feed her. I decided to lay in my bed with her. After she was done eating I layed her on my chest to burb her, I must of fell asleep because the next thing I remember was turning over then hearing a big clunk on the floor which woke both me and DH up. Immidiatly jumped up when I heard DD crying and realized what had just happened. When I rolled over, DD flew off my chest onto the floor about a foot away from the bed, to our suprise DD was not hurt at all, not even a bump on her head. DH kept saying that she should of been hurt some how, but she wasn't and I told him thta DD's great-grandma was protecting her and till this day he believes it .

I do also!! I had too many very near misses or times when it should have been a severe injury and they were only dazed when I was raising my children so I absolutly believe in guardian angels
