I don't really have any stories to share. I beleive they are there. I don't want to see them. But, I have sensed that they were there. My grandpa also has come to me in my dreams several times after he died.

This happened to a friend of mine, many years ago.

A bunch of college friends decided to go to the local cemetery on Halloween night. they piled into the car and drove to the cemetery. In those days there were no locks on the gate, and they were able to drive into the cemetery.

They were driving along the roadway when they saw a strange fog up ahead. suddenly the driver wasn't able to go any further. No matter how hard she pressed on the gas, the car would not move forward. Meanwhile, the strange fog was starting to move -- towards the car. She threw the car into reverse, but it was several minutes before the car began to move -- it felt as if something was holding onto the car to keep it from moving.

She backed out of the cemetery and didn't stop the car until she was halfway back to the campus.

I sure believe in ghosts. After I was divorced, I moved into a 2 bedroom apt. with my young son and daughter. My daughter and I shared a bedroom. She would at times get out of her bed and sleep walk over to me and wake me up. I would tell her to get back in her bed , which she would do. One time I was worring about having to move, and as I was sleeping I felt a hand touch my shoulder to wake me up. I thought it was my daughter, but all I saw was a shadow and a voice telling me not to worry. I went back to sleep, but the next day the vision replayed on my mind. All I can figure out is it was my Mom who passed away a few years before, and she was letting me know something would work out. And it did work out fine.

Yes, I sure do. I have seen and felt too many things in my lifetime not to.

The one that stands out most in my mind is the little boy, Harold, who lived in the house my dad once had. At night he would sit in the laundry basket while I slept. We had lots of conversations and my dad thought I was nuts - until he saw and heard Harold too.

I have also seen several family memebers.

When my mom was dying (last winter) I know my dad came to visit (he died in 1991). We would smell his cigarette smoke very strong and there were no windows open and none of us smoke.

Then the weirdest part was the 3 year old said there was man in the bedroom (He kept saying "hello man") We went in to see what he was talking about and when we asked where the man was he pointed at the wall and said "to the door.." Then he walked up to the wall and knocked on it and said "Door locked". Every so often he would go to the wall and knock and say "Hey man.. come out.." Then he would tell us that door was locked.

It gave us the willies! Especially since it was our bedroom!!

One time Jeffy (the 3 year old) came to tell me Chris (my oldest who was in Air Force basic trainingat the time) was sad and crying. I kept telling him Chris was fine (He had been gone for 4 weeks and this was the first time Jeffy had even mentioned him). I kept tellign him Chris ewas fine and he kept saying.. "No Chris is crying"

The next morning Chris called and said he was not feeling good and was lonely and sad. I asked him if he was crying the night before and he said Yes, he had gone into the bathroom so no one would see him.

Jeff and I just about fainted!!

Yep, sure do. ::yes::

Once I had a "cloud" type mist enter my bedroom. It slowly moved all the way around my bed & for some reason, I knew it wasn't there to harm me so I was just calm as could be. It just hovered over me a few seconds & then 'evaporated' as quickly as it had appeared.

Another incident ~ my Mom passed away on July 2 & while she was dying, I was just returning to the hospital from bringing my kids home. As I entered the hospital, my Dad (who died in 1968) came up to my left & put his arm in mine & my Mom (who was still alive but up in her hospital bed in her hospice wing room at the hospital), joined me to my right & also took my arm. It was like they were holding me up & they both took me to my Mom's room. As I entered the room, I thought my Mom had already died but she was still breathing (still can't figure how this happened), but she did pass away just moments after I arrived. During that time, both my parents took a spot in the corner of the room & were watching everything, standing arm in arm together. As my Mom took her last breath, everyone in the room was hysterical but I (who am usually too emotional) was sitting there, just holding my Mom's hand in the bed, & was so serene & calm. The calmness I felt came from another dimension. After she passed away, I had to make all the arrangements & each time I felt like a wave of torment was coming up my throat, my Mom would appear & just stand there looking so peaceful & again that unbelieveable feeling of sereneness took over & I was so calm & peaceful. There is no way to describe that peaceful feeling. Anyway, my Mom kept appearing to me until the day before her wake which was 3 days after she died (due to the 4th of July holiday being in there).

So ironic, but my Mom was laid to rest in her marble crypt on July 7th, which was the day my Dad passed away 35 years earlier.

Every once in a while we'll smell ciggarette smoke... I know it's my friend Sam checking up on me (or perhap my grandfather...). My husband did not believe me. The window was not open, I was farthest from the window. The smell lingered over me (every time my husband would lean over or go to my side of the bed he'd smell nothing), once I made him lay on top of me... and he too smelled it. And just as quick it was gone... no traces what so ever.

Sam has come to me in dreams (times when life seemed so rough/unfair)... and we'd just talk. I don't have a clue what about but when I woke I felt soooo peaceful and calm, serene.

Yes I do believe!!

I have to say that I do. The house I grew up in was built on a very old Family Farm. There was a small famiy graveyard nearby... some stones dating back to the 1700's. Anyway, I'd frequently get the feeling of something being there in the house. Never anything really scarey, just things would get moved (wouldn't actually see them being moved though), but you'd put something down in one place, then when you came back for it, it'd be gone. At night, I'd hear what sounded like someone coming up the stairs, but noone was up in the house... all asleep. As a teenager, I mentioned this to my Mom, and she would have the same feelings.

I'm all about ghosts too. I'm taking an advanced ghost hunter class through Maine's Paranormal Research Association and it's pretty cool. I took the beginner class and we learned about how to do an investigation, different types of ghosts/spirits and stuff like that. The class I'm doing now just started last week. We went to Evergreen Cemetery in Portland last Thursday night. I got some really nice pictures with some great orbs. We'll be going to a cemetery in Windham this Thursday night. Hopefully I'll get some good results. I'd post some pictures that I got last week, but I don't have them on a website. Maybe I'll try to figure it out later.

Our first house had a "feeling" in one particular room. It did not feel threatening to me, but it still made me feel uncomfortable. When I was pregnant, I just could not put the baby in that room, so made the nursery the room further away from my own. Well, after Kevin was born and we moved him into the nursery, the "presence" moved into that room. It was so strong that I would not go in there at night (I used to be a very scary person). My DH did all middle of the night stuff. I KNEW something was there, and also knew this something would not hurt my baby. About a year later, I was talking to a neighbor. My house was 7 years old while the rest of the neighborhood was 25+ years old. Come to find out, the original house burned down and a young girl died in her bed in the fire. Proof enough for me.

"In my best Cowardly Lion voice: "I do believe in spooks, I do believe in spooks I do, I do, I do believe in spooks ... yarr rrar rarrr arrr...." :faint: Yes, I believe in ghosts, no I don't have any ghost stories to share (well I do, but since I'm home alone right now no way will I think of them  ), and I didn't read the other stories in this thread I'm just too afraid to :o, but lets remember to bump it up at Halloween! Whhhoooooooo! :faint:

I believe and also had an experience last week. I had just sat down at the counter to eat my lunch while looking at the Price is Right. All of a sudden there was a smokey zigzaggy thingy right above my stove. At first I thought I left the stove on so I walked over to see. That wasn't the case because I used the microwave to warm my food. Ok I let that pass but later that night while sitting in the den looking at TV I noticed the same thing. It didn't frighten me, but it was very unexpected.

This past Saturday, my 15 yr old daughter was sitting on the floor looking at tv while I was the computer. She and I started talking about the upcoming family trip to Universal/IOA when all of a sudden, she looked towards the door and froze. Of course it scared me because I didn't know what she saw:eek: She looked at me and said mom I just saw this smokey z looking thing floating infront of the door. Ok mind you I didn't tell dh nor anyone about what I saw a few days earlier. After she described her vision, I told her about my experience. We both think it's either my daddy or my granny because really she nor I felt frightend at all.
Now my dh is a total different story. We told him what happend and I swear you could see the hair stand up on his neck.

Yes. In the house I grew up in we had a "ghost." My toys or radio would go on in the middle of the night and my door would slam shut in the middle of the night. My dad would get up and open it, only for it to slam shut again when he was back in bed. My dad & I also saw a woman in a white gown go from my bedroom, across the hall, to the bathroom. I saw her only once, but my dad saw her a few times.

Yes I have had lots and lots of experiences so I'll briefly tell a couple. I have them about once a week, runs in the family. We are what you called "touched" I guess. Every family has something I guess.

As a small child my great-grandfather came to me late one night when I got up for some water. Told me he loved me and not tell anyone he was there. I told my mother years later and she showed a picture of him I said that was him, he died just as I was born and I had never seen a pic of him.

My aunts house has a spirit, he hates eagle figurines, she collects them incidently. He smashes them in the night. He also flushes the toilet all night long. Weird

My first job had 2 spirits, one good one with bad feelings. Both were brutally murdered in the house. The nice one would hide things constantly on us, shut lights off, spook the customers. The one who was unhappy stayed in one area and moved things around from there. No one would go into that bathroom where he was, he shot himself in there. One night he caused the air conditioner pan in the attic to buckle in half, and sending the stream of water to drip through the light fixture above my head. I left early that day!

My father bought a house. I was cleaning it one night and the radio kept going off, the third time I turned it back up it came unplugged by itself. I ran. Later a professional paranormal specialist came in and confirmed what I had said. Told him it was 2 men, he agreed. They liked to throw glasses across the room also when the dogs were loud.

I have more but I think that is good for now!

Many people have mentioned experiencing smells that reminded them of decesed loved ones... this happens to me quite often. Both my Grandmothers had smells... my Mom's Mom's smell was mothballs. Only because she kept them in her closet. I frequently smell them, but we don't have any. My Dad's Mom had a particular smell... can't really describe it, but I'll often smell her as well. I like to think that they are visiting! :)

Maybe not ghosts but somthing....
about 2 months ago, My mom was going for a quick ride 2 towns over and wanted me to go for the ride. I didn't want to but I did.
We were in the car and driving over and my 3 year old says, Hey mom? was your Papa nice? Then he proceeded to relentlessly ask all kinds of questions about him. Now I will tell you my Grandfather died several years before this particualar child was born. There was no disscussion what so ever regarding him. And I have no idea what prompted the questions. Other than maybe he was thinking about his Papa.

Well we go to this particualr Burger King constantly and the girl knows us by sight. Well we rolled in to get the kids somthing and the girl realizes it's me and she says oh it's you. and hands me my change. And it's a JFK half dollar.

Why did this freak me out you say???? My Papa kept them in his pocket. An he would jingle his pocket and say. Oh is this for you?
I have never recieved a JFK half dollar for change. It was the context of the umprompted conversation regarding him and then the next contact with anyone I had was this. That was all the change she handed me not anything else. for a minute I was too stunned to speak. then I started to cry:rolleyes: My mom looked at me like I was nuts and then I said MA look what she just gave me for change, then she started to cry. I honestly feel like he was checking in.

Yes, I do, but I don't have any personal experience in this area. However, when I lived in NYC, one of my good friends had an experience in Brooklyn Heights that completely freaked me out.

He was walking home one evening alone and wearing his headphones. He felt like he was being followed so he looked over his shoulder, and sure enough, a man in a black overcoat and black hat with the brim pulled over his eyes was following him. Slightly uncomfortable, my friend starting randomly crosiing streets but the guy kept getting closer. My friend turned off his walkman and was utterly freaked out to discover he couldn't hear the guy's footsteps even though he was gaining on him.

Very scared, my friend ran to the nearest store, which was an old bookstore. Unfortunately, they were closing, so my friend banged on the door until someone opened it. "Let me in, I'm being followed", my friend said. The person who answered the door asked him if he was being followed by a man in a black hat and overcoat. Amazed, my friend said yes. The guy laughed and said, "Okay, don't worry about anything. Come back tomorrow and we'll tell you the story."

The story was that the man had committed suicide during the Depression by throwing himself out a window and skewering himself on an iron gate (gate is still there). He appeared to many people on that street, but the guy assured my friend that he only ever appeared once, and never again.

I've never had an experience, but sometimes, I wish I had. That story scared the daylights out of me, though. I had my friend reenact it for me on the street (we went out to dinner the night after it happened) and even THAT freaked me out.
