Do You Apologize To Your Pets?

Yes I do. My dogs also understand "move over baby" when I want to sit down on the couch.

poor mischief! my cat likes to sit on the windowsill. I woke up and wind was rattling the blinds. so I closed the window....she got out of the way JUST in time, so I thought. I actually caught the tip of her paw!!!! here it is 5 am, and I'm running around the house looking for her to A) see if she's ok and B) apologize!
I finally found her. she was ok.. she was mad at me for a few days. I don't blame her.

we always apologize when we come home from a trip. we have a neighbor come in to feed the cats (2) , they have kids that pet the cats. no matter how much we apologize, they are mad at us for a week!

The cat chewed up one of DS's toys today and he told her he hates her! :scared1: I made him apologize to her immediately.

Whenever we trip over or step on the cats we apologize to them.

Always. Our dog is sight impaired, so we are always letting him know we are around to comfort and guide him. When I walk him, I talk the whole time to make him feel at ease and so that he can follow my voice. It’d be rude not to speak to our dog, he is part of the family.

All the time! All my pets (2 cats, 2 dogs) are like members of my family. I live alone and I'm always joking with my friends that I am well on my way to being the crazy cat lady.

Aside from "I'm sorry" I also bless them when they sneeze and tend to make remarks when they burp. I have one dog that burps several times a day, it's so cute. They also understand "out" "hallway" and "bathroom". They really are quite intelligent.

I apologize any time I end up stepping on her or kicking her by accident. And then she gets lots of hugs and kisses!

Yep, absolutely. I apologize when I run into them or kick them accidentally, and I apologize to my husband's cat when I have to put her eye drops in.

I also say "excuse me" to the dog when he's in my way, unless he ignores me two or three times, then it changes to, "Hey MOVE it, Big Butt!"

Absolutely! I think it makes up for when I fuss at them b/c they've done something wrong. I think they appreciate being talked to :) (No, I'm not the crazy cat lady!)

I had to put my cat of 18 1/2 years to sleep on Sat. I cried and told her I was sorry, the vet cried and said he was sorry, but sadly there were no other options. She was the best cat, but unfortunately it was her time as her suffering outweighed her quality of life.

Sorry about your kitty, Princessparty

And yes, I always apologize to my kitties. I kinda think they expect it :rotfl:

Yes always. Our 2 dogs are known and called by both my sons as their little sisters. Even my parents refer to them as their granddaughters.

I always apologized to pets if I accidentally did something to them, like tripped on them or bumped into them.

They are a living thing...why wouldn't I apologize?

Mine are a full part of the family & I talk to them as just that every day.

My kids think I'm crazy when I ask them to "please" do something.

Our dog is one of the family. I talk to her all the time. I think she loves to hear me talk. She closes her eyes when I talk to her. I hope it isn't that I put her to sleep when I talk. LOL!

Actually I usually bribe them with treats. And then the wife wonders why there's a stampede when she opens up the lunch meat package. :rolleyes1

Yep- I apologize and usually pick her up and cuddle her because I feel so bad when I trip over here. I also apologize mornings like this morning when I have to go to work after working a long day the day before. I bless her when she sneezes (more habit than anything, although she's a pretty big sneezer for a small-ish dog, so her sneezes crack me up). She also understands me when she's in my lap and I tell her "I have to get up." That wasn't on purpose, I just said it the same way enough that she picked up on it.

I'm so sorry. :sad1:

We apologize to our boys (3 dogs) whenever we run into them or trip over them. We say "Excuse me" when we have to step over them. If I want to sit on the couch or lay on the bed and there is already a dog in my spot, I can point to a different spot and say "over there" and they will get up and move to that spot. And, the most important one, when I go into the bathroom and am followed by 1, 2, or all 3 of them, I can point back to the hallway and say "Out, I can go potty by myself" and they will get out...they do sit RIGHT at the doorway, but at least they are out! ;)
