This is the same with me. If I slow myself down and type with no errors, then its closer to 80-90wpm. I took typing in jr high and I was the queen of hunt and peck. Got a passing grade, but didn't really learn that much in it. It wasn't until I got into college and took some computer keyboading classes that I actually "learned" to type. Then I took jobs that had me doing tons and tons of keyboarding.....so over the years my speed and accuarcy both improved. It freaks the sweetpea out that I can type something while watching a show on the tv at the same time. She finds it freaky that I can type but not look at the keyboard or the screen.
I can type one handed and I can type wihtout looking at the keys or the screen. but not one handed an no looking. lol

My DH does the hunt and peck stuff, it actually annoys me if he is trying to take care of some kind of business, I kick him out of his chair and type for him! :rotfl2:

I do the same thing to my DH & to my boss! :rotfl2: :rotfl:
I type around 80wpm with few errors. I can type around 100 with LOTS of errors. I learned on one of the typewriters that had ribbon in it - if we made a mistake, we needed to find these correction papers & retype the word we spelled wrong. Total PITA!! I remember being soo excited when my Dad came home with one that had the autocorrect feature! :rotfl: We had the older ones in high school - we weren't allowed to erase our mistakes so they didn't bother upgrading.

Its funny you say that it freaks sweetpea out. Just the other day one of the guys I work with came in to my office & was freaked when he realized that even though I was looking at him standing behind me, I was typing & correcting the spelling errors without looking at the keyboard or the monitor. He was like "How do you do that?" I had no clue what he was talking about until he told me!! :wizard:

i don't type the correct way (use mostly my right hand), but i can type without looking at the keyboard. i just know where the keys are.

actually, i was typing one handed in class last semester b/c we had wine and cheese at the last class and i was holding my wine in one hand and typing with the other. the prof said he thought i had my priorities straight. :lmao:

I type correctly about 50-60 words a minute when I think about it, faster when I don't. Weird huh?? :confused3 DH will often comment from his computer room when I'm in here typing. He'll say things like, "slow down trigger!!" or "take it easy there quick draw mcgraw!!" :lmao: :rotfl2:

I'm a two finger guy. My typing is the only thing worse than my spelling :teeth:

My fingers are on the right keys for the most part, but I do a few things differently than you're supposed to. When it comes to numbers, though, I'm a bit of a hunt and pecker.

If I had to hunt and peck, I doubt I'd be posting on any message boards. It seems to me like that would get pretty time consuming and just not enjoyable at all.

learned way back in the 80's on a typewriter. Had to use correction tape and white out. What a pain my kids will never know. I still type pretty good and fast. Used to type close to 100 wpm. Keyboard hasn't changed and I type without having to look which is a bonus.

I type the correct way. I took typing in the eighth and eleventh grades. In the eighth grade, we had to learn to type on manual :scared1: computers. (For the youngsters out there, that means that the only thing powering the computer was your fingers!) My hands always cramped up after that class. In the eleventh grade, they actually let us use the electric typewriters that the secretarial students used.

I am a pretty fast typer. My husband finds it amazing how fast I can type without having my fingers on the HOME ROW keys. He's not quite sure how I type so fast w/so little errors, LOL. He thinks it's a phenomenon! I took type in 8th grade, but I didn't retain too much. Just learned to go fast typing all my papers in HS and college. Guess it pays to be a journalism major if for nothing more than the typing experience! ;)

yes i type the right way, that is why i respond so fast because i am a fast typer.

I think you are missing a few keys on your keyboard! :rotfl:

I've never taken a typing class, so I don't type the "right" way. But my fingers seem to know where all the keys are. :teeth:

I better type the right way after two years in a business school.

Drives me nuts to watch my 7th grader "type." And he says they had a class at school.

I type the right way :) I can type pretty fast, though have to look at the keyboard quite a lot otherwise there's loads of mistakes

I learned to type the correct way... WAAAAY back in the 70's in high school. We learned on manual typewriters, we had a few electric in the class that we rotated. My first job was in a bank and they only had manual's.

I can type pretty fast about 75-80 wpm with few errors.

I don't type correctly,but I don't hunt and peck either.

Same here - I was never taught how to do it properly and where your hands/fingers are supposed to go, but I know my way around the keyboard, so to speak, and rarely, if ever, look at the keyboard when I'm typing.

I developed it through using chat boards when I was about 16yrs old - you have to keep up on those if you want to stay in the conversation, so I learned out of necessity.

Also a pianist, so maybe that has helped (you learn to just know where the keys are without looking) :confused3

what was it called when you were in school? :teeth:

Typing!! :teeth:

I took typing way-back-when in High School....... on an electric typewriter, although, I owned a manual typewriter at home.

I hate typing and gave the poor teacher fits. Wouldn't you know that I ended up being an Editor? Miss Muse, I beg your forgiveness for giving you fits every day of 10th grade typewriting. And I am sorry that I typed up your Last Will and Testament and turned it into you instead of completing my assignments when you would not release me from your class.

I have been an administrative assistant for 35 years. I type correctly. :goodvibes

I type correctly. DH hunts and pecks (actually most of the men that I know/work with do as well.) My parents made me take typing in HS and I am SO thankful that they did!!!
