These may have been around for a long time, but today was the first day I noticed it. And I actually saw it at two different stores, at different parts of town. There was a sign at the edge of each parking lot explaining that the shopping carts were now equipped with an electronic device that will cause the wheels to lock up if they leave the parking lot. What a great idea! It's about time they came up with a way to stop people from stealing or just pushing them out to the bus stop three blocks away from the store.
I also like Aldi's way of keeping track of their carts, with a quarter deposit that you get back when you return the cart to the store.
