Do we still have to call to add days past 7?

I was hoping by now that we could just easily do this online... do we still have to call member services each day to add days 8, 9, 10...?

Yep, you have to call or take your chances and wait until you can make an additional reservation online.

No.

Once you have the last night of that 1st reservation booked, you should be safe for 6 nights or so.

So for a 12 night stay, you'd call the first time to book the 1st 7 nights and then call back in 5 days to book the rest of the stay.

Having trouble in my mind with this. If others book 7 nights starting on your day 2, your night 8 may not be available.

This seems so ridiculous to me... why can't they just build in the functionality to add a day online?? :(

You could make a 2nd reservation online and then call to combine the 2 reservations, but it is a pain.

I agree the online reservation system should be able to handle this simple thing.

If you have a room booked for 7 nights then nobody is able to book that room starting on your day 2 (unless you plan on sharing the room). I know that we're not booking specific rooms but there are still only X number of rooms available to be booked and if you have one booked then there can't be a reservation that could possibly start for your room during the time that you have booked. In order for the person who books 7 nights starting on your 2nd night to be able to do so they will also need a room for their 1st-6th nights which obviously needs to be a different room than the one allocated to you.

When did the ability to book up to 14 nights at a time online change to just 7? Obviously I haven't had enough points to book more than 7 nights in awhile, but I've booked 10 before without a problem. Can we add nights online, or does it require a call every day? Wait times on the phone are so long sometimes.

Back in June 2007 when they changed the booking window to be based on check-in date instead of check-out date.

You can actually book up to 30 nights online, but you are still limited to only 7 nights if booking right when the 7/11 month booking window opens.

They would have to be booking a room other than yours.

If your room is the last available, then they can't book night 8 because your night 7 booking should block them from going farther.

Doesn't mean there can't be software glitches but that's how it should work.

Thanks for the quick reply. Someone here suggested that maybe calling for the last group of nights might also work? For example, I will need 13 nights and can book 7 and then wait 6 days and call? Is it also easy enough to make two online reservations and then call to merge them into one reservation?

That would be taking a chance.

Think about this scenario as just one example: someone wants a reservation checking in on your intended Day 8 and staying until your intended Day 13. They call and book as soon as they can and snap up those dates.

I think what you're not factoring in with your example is that someone can book "your room" for their FIRST NIGHT on what you would want to be your Day 8. If they did that, then the room wouldn't be there when you called later.

The system isn't giving you dibs on that room for another night. So anyone can grab "your" intended Day 8.

Yes, you can do that. You just need to stay in front of the new 11 month booking window. So if you book 7 nights and lets say that means your check in is on the 1st of the month and check out on the 8th of the month. You can call on the 7th and add the nights up to 7 nights from then so to 13 nights which means a check out on the 14th in the example.

But in order for someone to book your night 8 they also need to have already booked the night(s) before that. In order for that to happen and take your room there would need to be a room available prior to night 8. They can't just start at night 8.

The logic is sound, but only if the number of rooms in inventory stays constant. Where you can get into trouble is if there is an inventory fluctuation for repairs or whatever Disney does to inventory to mess with us. In that case, it is possible (though not probable) that Night 8 is not available. I guess the theory is get the room while you can, just in case.

If you are booking your home resort at 11 months, unless a very busy time or very limited units, like AK value or concierge units or studios at VGF you should be okay to book 7 nts then add the last 6 later.
