only 99 days to go

I have noticed that a lot of people plan their days at DLP , is it really neccessary to get the best out of the holiday , can it be just as good without one .

we will be there for 5 days and I was expecting to just be able tow ande and do whatever we felt like but I dont want to miss bits because we haven't planned it properly :confused3

I'd really appriecte your opinions esspecially if you have done it both ways.

Thanks
Jane

I think to some extent you do need to have a rough plan - its fun to explore and set off into a land and see where it takes you BUT that is when you can miss things.

At the very least I'd spend the time working out what parades/shows I wanted to see as they are at fixed times and then fit them in amongst the five days.

If you are also wanting to see specific characters e.g. the Princesses then their meet and greets are on a morning so you need to factor that in.

I think some of the fun closer to the time is in planning the trip - it helps build the excitement.

i agree, you need to have a rough plan around show times and meet n greet times. otherwise you could miss out on some fab entertainment and specil momnets with characters. current programmes are listed on another thread so give you a rough idea of what to expect when you go.

If you are there for 5 days I don't think you need a plan at all - that's more than enough time to fit absolutely everything in and most things twice over!

We've never had a plan and part of the fun is just doing things as when you feel like it - life always gets in the way of plans anyway!

In 5 days you should be able to do everything - unless you have small children! Then you might need a bit of a plan. We were there for 5 days in Feb and we STILL didn't do everything we wanted to, because of show times etc. So personally I think with small children you do need to figure out the main things you want to do, and fit in around those each day.

Its good to at least read the showtimes etc leaflet that you get at check-in or in the parks, so you know what you may be missing:goodvibes . Bear in mind also, that some rides may be scheduled for closure during your trip - you can find out which ones on DLRP Magic and the official Disney site.

With 5 consecutive days in the parks, you'll be able to do everything easily. But unless you know whats available, how do you know you've done everything :thumbsup2 ?

Enjoy,

Elaine

We are going for 4 days and are going to try a new plan
day 1 just do rides in the main park
day 2 .just do rides in the studios/then watch night parade and fireworks
day 3. do parades and shows and meet princesses in the main park
day 4 do shows in studios ,go shopping, eat at cafe mickeys

BUT im sure all this will go out the window as we run around like loonies for 4 days which is much more fun:lmao:

I agree with Steve, I have never planned a trip either. I just go with the flow:goodvibes

We don't make plans any more either, though I think we did on our first visit, we do have a 'Must do' list to follow each time, however.

We haven't made plans in the past, just used the park maps to tick off what we have done and then in the evenings think about where we will start the next day.
Always managed to do all we wanted plus repeats of favourites in 5 days.
Doing Buffalo Bills and character tea party this time so have to plan a bit around them.

Just from my experience at WDW in Florida and DLR Paris you would not need a plan for 5 days in Paris.

We spent two weeks at WDW last December and there really is a need for planning. As each park has different showtimes and attractions and we also had to make our dining plan schedule. It was the best decision to do so.

We are going to DLRP in two weeks for 4 days and roughly planned the dining reservations. That's all. When staying for days I bet you'll be able to do the most things twice even if you don't have an accurate plan. :goodvibes

I think if it's your first time and you're going with kids then you need to plan a little. We always have a rough plan what we'd like to see, the parades, shows, meet the characters, restaurants etc and we take it from there. We have two little ones who need and want different things so we try to do everything to please them;)

We don't always get to do everything we planned but there's always next time which makes the trip a lot more enjoyable:cool1:

I'm sure you'll have a great time there.

You don't need to plan but do get an idea of what rides/shows/meet and greets you want. I would also suggest you consider any dining options and then go to City Hall on Day 1 and book these.

You do need to check shows in particular - when we were there in 2003 the Pooh show was only on the day we arrived, so it was see it then or not at all. And in low season some restaurants close, or don't do dinner, or whatever, so if you want a particular meal (esp. character one!) amke sure you book that in. Other than that, even with small children you should be able to do everyhting - even late stuff if you can get them to nap!

thanks , the kida are 4, 12 and 13 so I think we'd do best to plan a little to make sure we do someting for eveyone , I think its a great idea to have a "must do" list so we don't miss anything .
