We are travelling from NJ 8/26-9/4. All I've heard about is how hot it is in WDW at this time of year. Do I really need to bring long pants and sweatshirts/jackets for each of us? Has anyone brought those items at that time of year and regretted it? I want to pack as little as possible! Thanks for any help you can give!!

Only if you like "personal saunas" :lmao: .

It's usually very hot at that time of year so bring your lightest and most comfortable clothes (including footwear). August and early September in Florida are tropical! :goodvibes

August is like THE hottest month of the year in FL. I'd give ya a big NO on that. Pack tons of shorts tank tops, swim suits and ENJOY. Oh you will want to pack the $0.99 ponchos from WalMart. It will rain daily but only last an hr or so.

No way do you need them. We go every August and I don't even think about bringing either even as a "just in case." It is very hot in August and they are absolutely not needed:sick:

I only bring shorts, skorts and skirts with mostly sleeveless tops. I bring a very lightweight longsleeved top for the airport and/or plane incase it gets cold.

No way unless you are like my grandmother who was always cold and sat in the house wearing a sweater and under a blanket in the summer

It is hotter than hot in August. HOT HOT HOT!!! Did I say it was hot????

I would not think you would need long pants and definately not sweatshirts. Some people complain about the restaurants being cold and take light weight sweaters/shirts but personally after being in the heat... I think it feels great. Now I am very hot natured so take that into consideration.

The evenings will not cool down. It will be muggy and hot all day!!!

But you will be in Disney!!!!!! Better being hot in Disney than at home. :thumbsup2

We bring light sweaters for our dd's to use in the restaurants. The a/c especially in LeCellier can be really cold.

sweatshirts? good golly, no.

long pants? yes. light colored cotton or linen pants are a must for me. protection from the sun and all that.

I also always bring light khakis and linen long sleeve shirts. They are cool, and they protect you from the sun. But there is no way that you need anything long sleeve.

I have packed a million swim suits and bikinis/tankinis, shorts tank tops, and white linen pants and sleeveless dress tops for nice evening restaurant meals. 1 pair of lighterweight blue jeans for the evening, and 1 pair of black sparkly jeans. No jackets. Rain Ponchos too. DS and DH are taking 2 pairs f jeans each and 2-3 short sleeve dress tops for the evening but vest and shorts for the day.:laundy:

Right. :thumbsup2

Absolutely, no way - at all, what-so-ever - NO!

And for ME - even when the air is cranking in a place, its still not COLD cuz its so humid outside, and if I was able to step into a freezer, it would be a welcome relief after having been outside!

So - NO!!!! ;)

I don't pack long pants. Maybe capris for dinner in the evening. I do pack a sweater to take in the evening for dinner. For some reason the AC this summer freezes me out in restaurants.

My parents travel in pants "just in case" they need them when we get there. My family and I, on the other hand, bring nothing like that. Although a nice cold snap would be welcome in August!

I think simple common sense can answer that question.

No you do not need sweatshirts in August unless you want to see how much sweat a sweatshirt can produce.

:furious: <---- That is someone's head exploding from the August heat.

One thing to definately pack is sunscreen!

I know there have been one or two times in June/July that I have needed a sweatshirt in the room. These were rainy days when we came back soaked and the air was cranked (seems no matter where the air is when you leave the room, it goes way up after the room is cleaned--maybe the maids crank it up? ) I will have a cardigan for the plane and in case of cold rooms. Other than that, no way. Not even jeans.

Being at WDW in August is like walking on the sun. If you bring and wear long pants and sweatshirts, you'll regret it!
