Do we need to do TL if we are going to DC?

we were planning on doing a water park (most likely TL so we could swim w/the sharks) but have since added DC to our agenda... so, does going to discovery cove delete the need to go to a water park? we could save some real money by not going for the pluses on our tickets...

we were also considering disney quest (if we bought the pluses) but since my kids don't know about it, and if we're not going i won't tell them, they won't know what they are missing, right?

bump... looking for opinions on whether or not to go to typhoon lagoon if we are already planning a day at discovery cove... anyone?

Two totally different types of days. TL is wild rides ect. Discovery cove is a relaxing day of snorkling and swimming with dolphins. Discovery Cove was the highlight of our trip for my DS(8 at the time) We could have hopped on the plane and gone home after that. I don't think he can even tell you what else we did. My point is you don't need to hit TL unless they are REALLY into water slides. DQ is fun but not a must do- it is all video game type stuff. Really cool virtual reality but after going there my kids are not begging to go back. hope that helps a little. Enjoy DC we LOVED it!

I agree that Typhoon Lagoon would be mostly for the wave pool and slides. If you were going mainly for the sharks, DC may be similar. If you're staying at a hotel with a water slide, that may also be enough to skip TL.

We've done DQ a zillion times since they used to have one in Chicago near us. I really think the point of DQ was for people NOT near WDW to get a Disney fix. It was great for us, but I wouldn't waste much time there while actually at WDW, which is so much better. You can do the REAL POTC or Jungle Cruise instead, and other than the virtual reality part, the rest is just like a Gameworks or whatever big arcades you have by you. We went in Jan and our convention tickets included one visit to DQ. I have 3 preteen boys, who of course are the target audience and love it, and we only spent about 3 hours there, but I still felt like I was wasting time there that we could be doing much better stuff. If you're getting the plusses anyway, especially on a rainy day or something (although it'll be packed then!), sure, your kids are old enough to enjoy it. But I wouldn't buy the plusses just for it.
