Do we need PS for Whispering Canyon @ Wilderness Lodge?

We are going to be at WDW July 25-Aug.1.One day we'd like to go check out WL and eat at the Whispering Canyon for lunch.Since I don't really want to plan too heavily,can we just head over there and be able to eat?Also,how much do they let you "roam around" to check out the hotel if you are not a guest there(we are staying at ASMusic)?

We just stayed at WL. You can walk in and "roam" without any problems.

After 11pm - 7am you'll need your room key to open the doors though.

If you are really interested in eating at Whispering Canyon one day, I would make PS, just in case, but it seemed to me that they weren't too busy during lunch times.

This is the main Breakfast/lunch restaurant of the hotel. I doubt any of the resort guests make PS's,they just show up to eat. I would just show up to eat if I were you. In the evenings it is much more crowded.

I agree with the other posters- I don't this WCC is too busy at lunch (when we stayed at the WL, it never seemed super busy at lunchtime)...dinner is another story- I would definitely recommend a PS for dinner. And feel free to roam- Disney wants you to come back again and again and again to try all their hotels!!! And the WL is sooooo beautiful.

We went over to WL one afternoon and had lunch at Roaring Forks (should have gone to Whispering Canyon ) and then did some exploring. DH decided he wanted to see more than just the lobby so he went up to a cm and told them what we were doing and she took us on a tour that included a guest room! They were very accomodating.

Before you roam around, just stop at the WCC podium and see if you need a PS. If you do, make it right then and there and then go roam around!!
