Do we need express passes??

We will be at Universal on May 14th-16th. Do we need express passes for this time of the year?

Probably not. that is still a slower time of year. Check US's website. If the express pass price is around $40 or less, then Universal is expecting not much of a crowd. Do they close like 7 or 8 pm. Yep, US is then thinking slower time.

Most of us have not found a good crowd calendar. Thus, we look at the price of the express pass. The higher the cost, the more crowded US thinks it will be.

Have a great time! We are AP holders and like the parks.

Nah...you'll be fine w/o EPs. The two park EP is $45.99/per person which indicates lower crowds are expected. The EP does however go up a little to $55.99 on 5/16 but you should still be OK.
