Do we like Primetime Shuttle Services?

Personally, I do not like them for a couple of reasons. First, the vans always seem crowded and a little yucky to me (but I admit to being picky). Second, since they are "shared ride" vans, you sometimes make 3 or 4 stops before you get to your own destination. I just don't have the patience for this...it could add 30 minutes or even more to what might already be a long trip.

Perhaps if you provide some details (which airport, which hotel, and how many passengers), people can make some suggestions for you.

Thanks Lisa

We have six in our party arriving at lax and going to the DLH. We will have between four and six cases so I figure we could get a private transfer.

I was thinking of treating the kids to a limo one way.

Any suggestions are more than welcome.

I'm also looking at Primetime for next September since they seem more willing to pick up at different places than SuperShuttle...or as best as I can tell from the webistes that seems to be the case.
I need to get from VGC to the port at San Pedro..and then the tricky part from the port to DLR after the cruise. We disembark by 9 am and then the train doesn't leave until 7:00 pm so have to find something to do all day! Then there is the issue of what the heck to do with the luggage all day?? Do the hotels let you 'store' stuff there if you aren't staying? Or..we could go to the train station I guess and check the big bag, but then we'd have to either have a shuttle wait..and I don't think they do that, or get dropped off and take a cab to the park..and if you aren't staying at a hotel onsite, where do they drop you off?? maybe I should just sit at Union Station for 10 hours....nahhhh

I've used Prime Time Shuttle twice with no problems. I just checked SuperShuttle's prices from LAX to Anaheim for the end of this month, and they charge $72 pp roundtrip (after $4 Entertainment discount)! :scared1: I will use either Primetime or Disneyland Express.

*I just booked Prime Time Shuttle. I chose it over Disneyland Express because my daughter's flight doesn't arrive until 11 p.m., and Disneyland Express's last shuttle leaves LAX at 10:30 p.m.

If Primetime will guarantee you a private transfer, then I think they would be fine. If you have to make other stops, it can be pretty aggravating.

When we had a large group (10 people) going to LAX, we chartered a private bus from this company: http://mybuscharters.net/index.html

They were awesome, but I'm not sure if the cost would be too high for a group of just 6 people.

That's odd. We made ressies for SuperShuttle for 3 of us, R/T from LAX and the total was just under $100. Are you sure the $72 price wasn't the group total?

Is this going to be on a weekday or a weekend? You really need to take into account traffic if it's a weekday.

I'd call VGC to see if they will let you leave your bags there for a few hours on your way back.

It was for 1 person in a shared van.

** Now that I got it to pick a hotel, it says $16 each way! When I first entered the zip code manually, it gave me a price of $36 each way. Oh well - I am already booked with Prime Time, and have been happy with them before.

I've had good luck with PrimeTime--and they are cheaper than many of the other van services. With 6 people, you probably don't have to worry about there being other passengers in your van anyway.

We have used them multiple times with a private transfer and they were great, clean cars, on time, and nice drivers. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again!

for the shared ride option? I just did this for my DH when he met me at the Expo and it was only $16 one way :confused3

We get on the cruise and get off both on a Sunday..how far is the port from DLR? I thought about a hour or so?

I originally had trouble getting it to accept my hotel choice by typing in the first 3 letters, so I gave it the zip code manually. The price that came up was $38 each way with a shared van ($36 with $2 Entertainment discount). I later went back and figured out what I was doing wrong, and got the hotel name to come up. Then it was $16 each way in a shared van.

Yeah, maybe an hour, might be a little less than that early on a Sunday morning. But then you also have the hike from DLR to the train station -- are you going out of Union Station in Los Angeles? That could be a long drive, plus I'm sure you'd need to be there early...and having to deal with the luggage storage on both ends can take time. Living in LA, it just seems like too much hassle and driving to me, but that's just me :)

You might want to look into renting a car for the day. You could pick it up near the port, leave your luggage in it all day when you are parked at DLR, and then drop it off near the train station. I would think that would have to be less expensive than paying for shuttles all over the place, and it would solve your luggage problem.

If anyone finds a cheaper shared ride price or has any types of issues with service provided by Prime Time Shuttle you can contact me directly and I will be happy to personally assist you.

Thank you everyone for your replies. It is hard from overseas to sometimes get a good idea and from the webpage they look like they will meet our needs very well, so book today I shall.

I had thought about that also...We come in and out at Fullerton..much easier than going all the way to Union Station, and the route we take stops there without having to make the transfer to Anaheim..it's about a $20 cab ride to the train from DLR. Getting to the port is ok..I can do that morning of, staying at VGC, but coming back..OY! We could leave to go home from Union Station instead of Fullerton, but really..that's a long time to hang out in Union Station, so thought if we could take shuttle to DLR, store luggage somewhere, then take cab to train station at about 6:00 pm... that would work great..I even thought about renting a car from Alamo and then just leaving luggage in it, never driving it..you can't drop off car at Fullerton station, and you can't rent Alamo at port to drop off at DTD so the dilemma continues!

We always drive down, so have no occasion to use a shuttle service. But I just want to say that this kind of personal service, and checking fan boards to see if anyone has a problem, goes a long, long way toward convincing me to use a service. Kudos to Bobby G.
