Do VB points need some adjustment?

The reason I wonder about this is due to my recent experience making a cash purchase at VB with member discount for next January and being surprised at how reasonable it was compared to the number of points I needed (I'm points broke :)).

My 4 January nights VB OVIR cost $715.36 including tax. It would have taken 72 points for those 4 nights - so they sold to me for slightly less than $10 per point to my way of thinking.

I enquired about 2 nights at OKW 1 brm (also Jan), and was quoted $681 plus tax - about $755 total I believe. This reservation would have required 42 points - around $18 a point.

I like VB in Jan/early Feb, but it's never been busy at that time and yet it has a high point requirement. Any chance they may look at this at some time?

If they lower points for some nights, they will have to raise them elsewhere. The total number of points at the resort can't change.

The points structure can only be changed once annually (I believe) so they can't restructure as the market conditions fluctuate. They can change the cash price though to get rooms filled that are not getting filled. I think if you were to compare the April, May, June, October, November you would find cash pricing much higher compared to points. Just my guess though.

Yes, I fully understand this and that's why I used the term 'adjustment'.

I've stayed at VB a few times in November when the weather has been good, points lowish and more guests than in early January. As with the low points time at WDW resorts in December, I wouldn't be surprised to see some changes eventually, but this point has been well discussed on these boards.

I just thought it was interesting how 'cheap' it was to pay cash for a room at VB in January compared to using points. In future if I'm trying to conserve points, I may well choose to pay again :)
