Do u think VMK will celebrate EPCOT's 25th?

As most of you probably know, EPCOT Center's 25th birthday is October 1st. Just curious if VMK will have a special pin or something to mark the occassion. As the 1st Disney theme park to not be a "magical kingdom," it kinda is a big deal. Perhaps those figment items or retro EPCOT pins from the vmk card game will make their debut that day.

heh Epcot is my favorite place, I would love to see something done in VMK for it. Guess only time will tell.

We were kind of eventualy expecting Epcot furniture (among other things promised) and Yavn claims they really like Epcot but who knows. It would be nice but October usually gets the normal new Halloween overlay and spooky theme, The first is a Saturday so it could be isolated from the normal theme easy enough. Agreed, time will tell.

When I saw the old EPCOT Center logos on the forgotten attractions pins
from the card game, I thought they would have made a sweet pin set.

I have been hearing that Epcot will celebrate its 25th... apparently, Jim MacPhee (Epcot's new VP) is wanting to observe the anniversary. No idea how, but taking down the wand was a good start.

Some fans were upset that there wasn't any word about a celebration so back in late winter they decided to have fans meet up on Oct. 1st in the morning to mark the event. Perhaps motivated by people being irate there was no official ceremony, the interest in this fan based tribute, and a change in leadership.... Disney is now officially marking the day. They worked with the group that started their tribute and are doing some speaker event etc..thing that morning.

I am so bummed I will miss the event by 2 weeks, but am hoping there will still be some 25th anniversary merch (pins, shirt) available when I am there 2 weeks later. And of course, hoping for some virtual stuff on VMK!

Sigh I miss it by 4 days. We arrive on the 4th. Can't wait to see Spaceship Earth in all it's glory!

I really don't think vmk will do anything. With Halloween and Dreams Month they are probably just too busy to do it all. But hey, that doesn't stop all of us from doing something! Lets plan a Dis party of some kind! What do you all think?

I love the idea about an EPCOT party!! MAybe everyone with Epcot rooms can turn them into a party atmosphere that link to one another?

Actually the first of October is a Monday but I am still all for a weekend event

In the past, alot of DIS VMK'r had a "Mule Ball." It was a great concept created by Mal. Room info would be posted on the DIS, you were to come as your mule and people would have to try to figure who your original character was. We all awarded prizes. (Sorry memory is bad and what it was only 2 years ago.) But it was so much fun and good laughs got to know alot of Disr's.

What if we all designed an attraction from Epcot, just the entrance maybe, and then opened it to the public during October for the celebration?

I love Epcot ..... I hope VMK does something special for the anninversary. Its kind of doubtful though if they start in with halloween on the 1st like they did last year. Even a pin for everyone who signs in like they did for the 4th of July this year would be nice.​

Maybe they will at least release the epcot room? I would love that. Though I Could defiantly do with a little Figment in the VMK. (So glad they are redoing that ride again!!) Or maybe TestTrack. Or Soarin. Heck, I'd be happy with The Land! I think Epcot is highly under appreciated and used in the VMK.
