Do U Do Laundry on Your Trip?

The services that will do the laundry for you sound great! Unfortunately we will not have a rental car on our upcoming trip. Does anyone know if any Disney resorts offer any type of laundry service like this? We will be staying @ ASMo and would pay almost any amt to not have to use up any of our Disney time on laundry. If there is a program like this, does anyone know how much it costs? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

The resorts do have laudry service. As to cost, are you willing to take out a home equity loan?
I would quess that 3days worth of laundry for 2 adults would set you back at least $80.

Another great reason to be a DVC member. We throw a few days worth of laundry in the machine when we get back to the room for the night. By the time we hit the bed it's done and in the dryer it goes.

Clean clothes, less packing, no hassle.
BTW Does anybody like to do laundry????

The most laundry I have ever done on a trip was put my wet sneakers in the dryer...and even then it was DH who did it, LOL! I am very much against doing laundry on vacation.
However, we have our longest trip since our honeymoon coming up in December. And with 4 of us now, and needing some winter clothes, I have a feeling I may be forced to do some. But I sure will try not to. ;)

When we go to Disney we stay 7 to 11 nights so yes, we have always done laundry somewhere in the middle of the trip. :D

Well, the laundry is done at least once or maybe twice. Cuts down on packing etc. DH does it and that is like Fantasyland for me!

If I need anything cleaned while on vacation in WDW like shorts, Tshirts or underwear I just wear them to go swimming in - cleans them up a treat :)

We just arrived home last night from AKL... I did laundry there while my DH took our 2 children out for a "midnight" swim. It only took a little over an hour. I'm glad I did it since I don't have mountains of dirty clothes this morning. The funny thing is that each child (ages 5 and 9) took a suitcase full of clothes and since I washed while there, they didn't use 1/3 of what we took.

I do laundry at WDW and I enjoy it. Like others have said, it's a nice break and you pack less. We also bring the tablets and fabric sheets and I always bring extra to share with fellow guests. It's a great way to strike up a conversation with someone! And I love talking to fellow guests while doing laundry. It can be very interesting.

However, if there is nobody to talk to, I do other things to make the time pass such as swim. However, while staying at the Poly, I would bring my boys with me and play in the arcade in between loads. While at POR, I would put the clothes in the washer, walk over to the surrey bike rental station, rent a surrey, drive over to the laundry room, switch the clothes over, finish my surrey journey around POR and walk back to take the clothes out of the dryer.

I'm not one to leave dirty clothes around...it would be haunting me my entire vacation so I tend to get it out of the way.

PartyOf5- re:laundry at the Poly- are there any times there to avoid the laundry room?

I'm staying in the BCV's next month :teeth: for 2 weeks and am coming from England. I don't plan to do laundry on the trip (it's an excuse for me to need to buy more clothes!!) but my husband usually likes to pack lighter and do a bit of laundry every few days. That suits me fine though as there is more room for my things in the case LOL!!!:p

We always stayed in a 1-bedroom at OKW and they came with a washer so I never really thought much of it. While winding down for the night I would throw a load of clothes in. Well on our last trip we stayed 16 nights at AKL and with a 2yo you HAVE to do laundry. So DH took DD out and I headed down to wash our clothes. By I will really rethink it next time. Not only did it take me half a day, we could have went to Boma's for dinner for what it cost! I think next time I will only do one wash of essentials!

The Poly has about 10-15 washers and dryers (each). It's never been crowded when I've been there. I tend to go early morning, after lunch or evening (around 7 or 8). There is also a sitting area with a TV for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks for the info PartfOf5! Do you remember- is the laundry room open certain hours?

Never have down laundry on any vacation let alone Disney. I take enough clothes so I can have an outfit each day (after sweating like apig each day you need that). My suitcases are heavy but I rather that being apain then going down to do laundry on vacation. :D

I can't be 100% but I think the laundry room is always open...you just need to use your room card to access after hours (I think between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.).

Can anyone verify this?

...does anyone know if there are laundry facilities available at Ft w?

kimmar067~

Yes, there are laundry facilities at Ft. Wilderness. They are located near the pool. I think the cost was $2 per wash or dry.

Yes, FW has laundry facilities.

It is $2.00 per washer and 25 centers per 15 minutes of drying time. When I did laundry there a week ago, I found that the dryers worked really well and I didn't need more than 1/2 hour drying time.
