Do Tracfone pre-paid cards ever go on sale?

We recently bought a pre-paid LG500g phone, only $15 including s/h and double minutes for the life of the phone. We're going to use it as DD's emergency phone so we don't need a lot of minutes but I'd like to get the most bang for my buck. There were some coupons included with the phone (mainly extra minutes added if you activate a phone card in a specific month). Do the phone cards ever go on sale or are they always sold for face value?

We won't need to activate the phone until November when she goes and stays with MIL for a week, so I've got some time to shop around or wait for a sale. We've never used a pre-paid phone before so any reviews or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Target has them on sale once in a while.

If you are adding airtime from the web, always search for a coupon code first. There's a thread on fatwallet that has the latest and greatest codes that give you extra minutes.

Getting a one-year card is the best value. And you don't have to keep loading your phone every few months.

Both Target & Shopko have had them on sale by us. We always use a bonus code to get extra minutes.

My younger DD does not use her phone much so we get her the smallest card but my older DD uses hers all the time so we get her a 120 min. and she gets triple minutes plus bonus code.

Double check the total per-minute-fee when you're adding promo codes and buying cards. We've found that many times it's cheaper per-minute to buy a 60 minute card than it is for a 120 minute card once the bonus minutes are figured in.
