I thought I read somewhere that the nightly fireworks were discontinued?????

Yes, they were discontinued around the first of the year. When I was there in late April, they were tearing down most of the buildings along the lake, I think they are going to have some kind of night show on the lake.

thats too bad they discontinued the fireworks at PI. the firework show they put on last july 4th was amazing. we had left MGM after Sorcery in the sky and decided that after a very long day to just go back to SSR and have a swim. well i was lounging in the pool for a bit when my Dw decided to go by the fireworks viewing area to view the fireworks. fireworks viewing area to view the fireworks. seems simple doesnt it. you would be suprised just how empty this area was before the show began. we both managed to snare a couple of the oversized rocking chairs and with drinks in hand was completly and literally blown away by just how great that show was.

i know the every night shows werent as grand but we could see from our room that quite a bit of PI patrons would always gather along the waters edge to see the show. with all of the reconstruction they are doing at PI I hope they will have the fireworks back in time for our next trip

The nightly NYE fireworks were discontinued, but they will still have special event fireworks at PI.

This includes 4th of July, New Year Eve, and many of the hard ticketed events they have at PI.

So if you are staying at SSR for New Year's eve, you will still see fireworks.

Those special fireworks are awesome and much better than the 30 second nightly display they had.

They did have the fireworks on the 4th still. We could see them from our balcony at SSR and they were outstanding...

I hope they bring back some sort of nightly event...

Interesting, considering that Universal is building (or already doing) a show on their lake.

The nightly show was nothing big, if I remember correctly. Special events might be different, but the nightly show was very short.

The nightly firework show was 32 or 37 seconds long, depending on the night.

As mentioned in a previous post - they will still have fireworks on select nights, including 4th of July and NYE.
