Do they shut off the rides when the parks close?

This is literally what I'm thinking about right now before bed. Why? I have no clue!

When the cast members clean up for the night, is there an off switch for the rides? Like POTC, Peter Pan, It's a Small World type rides. Or do they keep running all night and no ones there?

They're turned off. When the parks close, the overnight shift gets to work, and included in that group are engineers inspecting the safety of the attractions. The attractions will be run off and on while engineers ride and/or watch while looking to see what, if anything, needs to be repaired. There's a whole lot of work that starts the moment the last guests leave each park.

In June, our villa at BLT faced MK and my absolute favorite thing about that room was sitting on the balcony around 5:30 am and watching them run through the Once Upon A Time projection show. Some mornings it ran like clockwork, other mornings they would start, stop, fast forward, and rewind certain parts until it was just right.

I was in a room at WL facing MK the second week of May. One night, I heard a booming noise outside in the wee hours of the morning (I want to say 3 am?). I looked outside and...fireworks! They were running through HEA! They were also running through the projections at 6:30 am the morning of premiere day. Unfortunately, that was our departure day, so I haven't had an opportunity to see it in the park yet.

i remember that night because I woke uup wondering who would be using fireworks in the middle of the night

I had a theme park view in contemporary in 2014. Would stay up til they shut off all the Christmas lights on castle and astro orbiter...the lights stayed on til about 2 am...

I think they shut all the rides off once all the guests have left the park.

Shuddering of thinking about small world going all night, those creepy little dolls singing to nobody in particular...

I can't with that ride during the daytime let alone riding over and over at NIGHTTIME. Talk about a nightmare!

Oh that's so neat!! I think that would be cool to see! Definitely rethinking of staying at WL...

I'm curious about the cleaning of the ride cars and the shows. Especially parts that you grab onto.....handrails, guns, safety bars, etc.

I have a feeling that for some, they spray it down with a strong hose or something. I can't imagine someone going over every surface with lysol wipes :)

Sure , why not, get the giant economy sizes of 7 thousand wipes. :P

I just love to hear how they do all that stuff........someone had to figure how to clean/repair a thousand things everyday.

I like watching show like "how they do that". Amazing when you find out there are a hundred steps to make something simple.
